Help for Col. Potter Cairn Ricky W

Ricky W was pulled from a shelter and was heartworm posititve. At our last big get together, we raised enough funds to successfully treat Ricky's heartworm. He was adopted by a wonderful woman who loved him deeply. Sadly, Ricky's mom got news that her son had gotten a traumatic brain injury while serving our country and she had to surrender Ricky to Col. Potter so she could help care for her son. She moved in with her son but his big dogs didn't like Ricky so she made the heartbreaking decision to be selfless for Ricky, who is named in honor of her son.

Ricky's vet notes were conflicting about a leg he limped on, so Col. Potter wanted to find out what was really going on. Unfortunately, it was believed he had a torn ACL and needs surgery. After surgery he'll need water therapy and to take it very easy for about 6 months.

If you know Cairns, you know most of them have that impish gleam in their eyes. Ricky W has that gleam but he also sparkles. His eyes just light up a room. His injured leg is slowing him down and keeping him from doing all that needs to be done in exploring the yard, playing with toys and going for walks. He's in pain which restricts him. We want to ease the pain and help him be his true self with surgery to correct the ACL which is very costly.
