Calling on coffee lovers and our coffee community around the world to help the victims of the Volcan de Fuego’s eruption.

On Sunday 3 June 2018 Guatemala experienced its most violent volcanic eruption in over 100 years when the Volcan de Fuego erupted.

Currently over 1 million people have been affected. The death toll rises daily, with hundreds of people injured, and thousands of people displaced or missing.

Many areas affected are communities who rely solely on the coffee industry for their livelihood, with uncertainty surrounding the repercussions post harvest.  We believe we must pool all our resources to enable these communities to circumvent the burden of potential losses in order to focus on rebuilding for the future

Funds are needed immediately, and every little bit helps so please do not hesitate to donate.

1. Many of our friends, colleagues at both the mill and farms we work with in Antigua have been affected.  They have lost their family, homes, or parts of their farm. Many have been impacted and we want to help them rebuild.  We will be announcing the charity shortly that will rebuild the homes of our friends and colleagues.

2. Burnt Children Foundation  of Guatemala
The road to recovery from life-changing burns will be long, and we want to support the children affected

100% of the funds received will be used to help the victims as we have outlined above.  We will provide full transparency of use of monies, and provide regular updates on how your donations have helped the people of Guatemala.

Hi Guys- Hope everyone is having a good summer. I've been in Guatemala over the last 4 weeks, and have been interviewing/meeting various foundations to select the best one for impact that adheres to our values and is transparent. Hope to announce something very soon.

Just an update. The highway that gives access to the part affected by the eruptions opened yesterday. Some organizations have had special access. Based on our conversations with the different NGOs we expect the full extent of the damage will soon be apparent.

When the eruption first happened there was a lot of emergency support. At this point, a lot of the emergency supports has subsided, and many are left needing work and a place to live. It is in this space our donations will come in and support.

I feel a huge responsibility to ensure that our funds go to a very transparent organization that is helping. More to follow . #AnimoGuate Marta

Last Friday 29th June, together with Prufrock Coffee and Finca San Jeronimo Miramar, we hosted an evening of coffee tasting, a "Soil & the Future of Coffee" talk by farmer at Finca San Jeronimo Miramar, followed by a honey tasting of honey from coffee flowers and it's shade trees. It was a really fun evening.

Finca San Jeronimo Miramar donated the honey towards the event, and all tickets and honey sales went to this Go Fund me page
