CLEAN HANDS FOR HAITI

This will be my 4th year riding 150 miles from Manhattan to Montauk in one day to raise funds for CLEAN HANDS FOR HAITI.

Please sponsor my ride by going to my website https://www.gofundme.com/Clean-Hands-for-Haiti
or sending a check payable to “A&M Sports Academy” to me at Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP, attn.: David Wander, Esq., 605 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10158.

Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Americas and the extreme poverty affects every aspect of life, from children through adulthood. There are few opportunities and little hope for the future. Recently, before Haiti could recover from a catastrophic earthquake in 2010, it was devastated by Hurricane Matthew.

From May 19-25, Ray Abellard & Andre Murray, the founders of A&M, will go to Haiti to “give back” to the Haitian community in Port-au-Prince. This will be A&M’s fifth CLH, bringing food, clothing, dental care, school supplies, education, basketball clinics and much more to this impoverished community, focusing on a group of 18 students who are being nurtured through A&M’s Community Center. giving them hope, laughter and an opportunity for a better life.

A&M will be accompanied by CitiDental Group of NYC led by Dr. CJ Loflin, providing free dental care to the students, their families and the community.

*In 2015, A&M opened its Community Center in Carrefour, Bizoton, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Port Au Prince, which is where A&M founder Ray Abelard grew up. The Community Center provides these kids with a safe and nurturing environment where they can improve their academic performance. A&M supports a licensed teacher for the students at the Community Center

*22 Lenovo laptop computers and internet access for the Community Center were donated by William David Tobin of Mission Capital Advisors, LLC

*Two years ago, A&M rebuilt the home of Fenelson Victor, the co-winner of A&M’s Student of the Year award, who lost his home during the 2010 earthquake.

In addition to its charitable work in Haiti, each year A&M provides basketball scholarships to underprivileged students in New York City, particularly Brooklyn, who attend A&M’s basketball clinics and are mentored by Ray Abelard, Andre Murray and their staff, supporting their education and building self-esteem and good character. and helping them avoid the gangs, drugs and crime that plague their community.

This year the Ride to Montauk will be held on September 8, 2018. Funds received before June 1st will support the trip to Haiti in May, 2018 and funds received thereafter will support A&M’s Community Center. Fundraising will continue until the Ride on September 8th.
