Kick Cancer to the Curb!

Donation protected
In December 2017, I took my regular yearly mammogram and after two biopsies, I was told I have breast cancer.

Breast Cancer (Invasive Pleomorphic Lobular Carcinoma)- to hear it was scary for many reasons.  My sister passed from Breast Cancer, but thank goodness, we don't have the genetic factors and we know more now today, which gives us more choices and hope regarding treatment and recovery.

Getting the diagnosis, when I was only expecting a Z-pack for sinuses, suddenly made me feel so lonely!  No one should get that diagnosis and be alone while seeing doctors and specialists.  Doctor’s offices and insurance companies need to be better about putting policies and people in place that can help us during times like these.

This diagnosis is not ever what you want to hear, but especially not when you have resolved to embrace a new life and new journey, full of writing books, traveling and building a company.

After talking to my doctor and two specialists, my first reaction was to give this to God and read and connect with everyone I knew who had been through or is going through this, so I could make an informed decision on the next steps I should take.

The recommended treatment is, of course, surgery and then radiation therapy.  They won't know about Chemotherapy until they do the surgery and take out the tumor.

I am self-employed and have limited health insurance and no savings or extra money from work.  After helping my fiancée’ and my mother through long illnesses in 2013, I was left without any savings or reserves.   The surgery is scheduled for February 26th, so this is an urgent need.

The hospital informed me I would need to have the co-pay by that date, and they have included more testing from two more specialists which are a Cardiologist and a  Pulmonology Specialists before I can have the lumpectomy.  I already owe $600.00 for diagnostics and biopsy and I will need so much in the way of medicine and treatment.

The funds I am raising will help me with medications, treatments, and recovery. 100% of money donated will go toward them.

If you are wondering if there are other ways you could help me, I am honestly not sure of what I need right now or will need in the future. I know it will be extremely helpful for me to keep stress levels down, eat healthy, and to be mentally and physically prepared.  If you are able to offer assistance in the way of meal preparation or provision, talking with me or praying over me, please connect with me and we can better assess my needs together.

I am offering a discount on some items such as banners in our magazine and radio.  Ask me!  I have published books, written Safety and Training Procedures, monthly training classes on Wordpress, Hootsuite (Social Media Management) and created MailChimp and more.  See the Rewards.  You can donate or I will sell you a service or advertisement for your business or endeavors.

Despite all the news and the testing and more testing, I will soon see my heart and lung doctor.  I am encouraged to keep living daily to enjoy every moment and show others that Cancer is not scary!  It's all the other things that come with a diagnosis of Cancer that is scary; It’s not having finances for medicine and treatment and the risk of going into financial ruin just to pay for everything, it’s not having a local support network, it’s not having reliable transportation to and from appointments, someone to sit with me when I need it, and so much more.

My goal daily is to see the positive in even this story and create new ones for my family and encourage my friends near and far that Cancer can be "Kicked to the Curb." If Attitude is half the battle, this fight is already won!

Thank you all, for your time in reading and sharing this. You will be able to read more of my day-to-day story on my blog.
