Carson's memorial fund

On the evening of August 26th, 12-year-old Carson Shortes was fatally struck by a truck in Tustin. Carson was a sweet boy who had severe autism. Despite manifold measures taken by his family to keep Carson safe, (many families of kids with autism must have alarms and special locks on windows and doors, personal GPS devices, etc), he occassionally managed to get out of his home unseen and wander. Caretakers immediately notified the police, who began searching for Carson, but several minutes later the heartbreaking 911 call came, that Carson had been hit by a car after running into a busy street.

Carson's family was struck by tragedy 8 months ago, when Carson's father died suddenly just before Christmas. Carson's mother and younger sister were just starting to recover a sense of normalcy, and now must plan another funeral for their beloved Carson.

Please join me in supporting Carson's mother and younger sister with a financial gift to ease the burden of the cost of 2 funerals in less than a year. The family has had to move, and may now move again. Grief counseling and other unforseen expenses can quickly become overwhelming.

Carson's mom is well-known in the autism and local communities as a kind-hearted woman who goes above and beyond in service to her family and friends. Let's show her our support! Thank you.
