Carrboro High School Baseball

We are Carrboro High School Baseball and we would love any and all support that you are willing to provide.

My name is Shaughn Neal and I am beginning my third year as head coach at Carrboro High School and I am reaching out to our extended family members, local businesses, community members and anyone that is willing to help support our local high school baseball team.

We are looking to raise money in order to bring our complex up to the standards that we are upholding on the field.

We want our complex to reflect the type of success and breed continued success that our players are working extremely hard to maintain.

In professional sports the more successful you are the better the endorsements, donations and monetary support, unfortunately, it’s not like that for high school athletes.

Our program is usually dependent on assistance from the families that are currently involved. These dedicated families have already put forth so much time, effort, sacrifice and money, that I would love to see the pressure fall off their shoulders.

Our athletes are going to be responsible for sharing this GoFundMe with at least 15 extended family members, business owners, long-time family friends, Facebook acquaintances- basically anybody that is not already supporting our program- and we would love for you to do the same.

We are raising money for these specific reasons:

-Concession/Press box: $10,000

-Fence Maintenance: $4,000

-Baseball Bulletin Board: $3,000

-Batting Cage accessories: $2,000

-Conference Championship sign: $600

-General maintenance of field and complex.

We would love to be able to obtain our goal by the end of March, that way we will be able to apply some of the money to our current goals such as Fence Maintenance, before the season starts.

This GoFundMe project means so much because when I became the head coach at Carrboro I set out to change the culture and mindset of the team. I wanted our athletes to understand that it’s not just about participating, but learning to compete to win.

I also wanted to build a program and not just a team. A team shows up, plays the game and then goes home, but a program builds off the successes and failures of each other.

A program is built consistently year after year by being fundamentally sound, mentally prepared and having respect for the name across their chest.

A program plays for each other, their school and for their surrounding community.

A program gives back to the community by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house.

A program helps raise funds for a fellow student-athlete fighting cancer.

A program teaches everyone involved that it is not about the individual, but all about each other.

That’s what we have set out to do since my first day at Carrboro and we are continuing down that successful path daily.

Over the past two years we have built our program successfully on the field and it has shown through these examples:

2014: 3 All-Conference Performers, 1 Honorable Mention, including an All-State Performer who is currently playing college baseball at High Point University.

2015: Mid-State 2A Conference Champions, Mid-State 2A Conference Tournament Champions, 6 All-Conference players, 2 Honorable Mentions, including the Mid-State 2A Pitcher of the Year, JV Conference Champions, Two college baseball players at Lenoir College and Roanoke College, Mid-State 2A Coach of the Year.

Personally, I want our athletes to have an overwhelming sense of pride for Carrboro High School and the program that they were a part of for 4 years.

Our school and the baseball field will be some of their lasting memories as they grow; where friendships were forged, where they learned how to deal with life while playing a game, where they will always be able to say proudly that they played at Carrboro High School, where they will always feel welcome to come back and be a part of our family; our program!
