Disaster Relief for Puerto Rico

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Edwin Valentin and I would first like to thank you for visiting my page. If you take the time to read the description, you will see exactly why I greatly appreciate you being here.

Due to the fact that Hurricane Irma and Maria devastated almost everything in it's path, many of you are well aware of the humanitarian crisis currently going on in Puerto Rico. Millions of people have been affected by these hurricanes, directly and indirectly, including myself. Many of my family members live in Puerto Rico and after weeks of no communication, my family finally had a breakthrough. Although it was a relief to hear from family, we knew that the path forward would be difficult and the experience during the storm will never be forgotten.

Speaking with my grandparents for the first time in three weeks, I was able to get a first hand account of exactly what happened and what it's like now. From my grandparent's experience with water levels rising to their necks during the storm, to hundreds of dead animals, to overflowing rivers, to total loss of electricity on the island. I also was informed about my aunt's experience with the storm where she suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung. I could not help but get emotional speaking to them and hearing the experience of other family members. I knew that I could not just sit back while Puerto Rico is in need of so much help.

So, along with Alex Genre, we decided to take action and do something to raise funds for the people of Puerto Rico. We will be hosting an event called the Carnival for the Caribbean at California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA. This event will be used in order to bring together the California Community to raise awareness and funds for Puerto Rico. This page was created in conjunction with the event, in order to maximize what can be provided for relief efforts.

Whether it be $100 or $1, every little bit can help. From basic necessities like water, to rebuilding homes, we will never fully understand how much a contribution can help. So please join me in raising funds for the Salvation Army of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Whether the goal is hit, shattered, or not reached, every little bit will help families who are in dire need. If you choose to join me on this journey by donating, updates of what I'm doing before, during, and after the event will be posted!

Again, whether you contribute, share the page, or just spread some general awareness, I appreciate you stopping by.

Thank You All,

Edwin Javier Valentin

"It has been six weeks since the hurricane, and 70 percent of Puerto Rico's 3.4 million American citizens are still without power. About 25 percent are without fresh drinking water-people are drinking from streams and other contaminated sources. They are burning their dead. This is, of course, unthinkable. And grotesque. It is also true."
