Help Lorraine Get to Philly

My name is Lorraine Salas and I was elected as one of our district delegates to ensure a Bernie Sanders nomination at the Democratic National Convention this July.  Do not believe what the pundits are telling us.  California is still flipping counties as well speak and more delegates are being added to the delegate count for Bernie. I, along with more congressional district 36 delegates, will be representing your vote for Bernie Sanders at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.  I was chosen as the top female delegate for congressional district 36 this past May and I am privileged and honored to represent those who voted for Bernie Sanders and wish to see him nominated.  Attending the Democratic National Convention is a perfect opportunity for us to bring issues affecting the Coachella Valley to elected officials. Not only am I 100% assuring you that I will be casting my vote for Bernie, I want to emphasize to those in positions of power, how allowing the Salton Sea to evaporate without action will cause unimaginable human suffering and a change in ecosystems that we may never get back.  I think about my community and the students I teach while on this journey, how everyday we are affected by the many issues Bernie talks about in his speeches.  High college tuition costs, lack of adequate housing for farmworkers and the working class, the need to expand Social Security, the list can go on.   We are on our way towards change and whatever the outcome may be I hope we continue this journey together towards progress and acceptance for ALL.  Whether it is $1 or $100 you donate, anything and everything is appreciated.

My travel expenses include my flight from Denver to Philadelphia ($327) and four nights of lodging in a designated hotel the DNC has mandated California delegates to purchase. Security will be high at the DNC so going in and out of the Wells Fargo Center is going to be difficult. The amount is going for $629 plus tax a night!  That comes to $726 a night, times four nights, equals $2,904 total for lodging. 

I am currently attempting to roommate so the lodging could be less expensive and not as burdensome but this total does not include food or expenses that the DNC is asking from us.
