Culture Shock Oakland Fundraiser

Hello Friends and Family and Supporters of the Arts!!

My name is Kim Sims-Battiste and I am the Executive Director of Culture Shock® Oakland. Culture Shock® is a non-profit 501(c)(3) hip-hop dance and outreach company dedicated to innovative performance, artist
development, and community enrichment. Culture Shock® consistently presents urban dance forms with artistic excellence and professional dedication. Our commitment to hip-hop dance as a highly entertaining, inspiring and engaging art form is at the core of every activity and program that we offer.
Along with high energy performances, in our community of dancers and performers, we
encourage all members to express themselves creatively regardless of their age, gender,
race, sexual orientation or socio-economic backgrounds. We provide a positive environment
for youth and adults to experience personal growth, teamwork and leadership through dance.
We are a highly diverse group of individuals who embrace and live by OUR MOTTO:

Culture Shock® Oakland can only achieve its goal with the assistance of generous donations
from members of our community. Without these donations, serving those in our area would
not be possible. Some of Community Programs we look to offer with our fundraising efforts:

"THE VILLAGE" Dance Center is to provide dance, fitness and movement classes to the
Oakland Community that have never been offered before. Introduce programs that are
affordable and accessible for all.

URBAN ED 101 - An after school dance and fitness program using elements of the old
school "President's Physical Fitness Testing" to encourage kids to get active, get fit and be
educated on how to be healthy all through dance and fitness programming.

COMMUNITY COLLECTIVE - free classes, training and outreach to our surrounding community members to get them to move and educate them on health and fitness.
