CLUSTER Community Services is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) agency that has been servicing at-risk youth for over 40 years. During this time, CLUSTER has remained relentless in its efforts to assist individuals aiming to build a better future not only for themselves, but for their community as well.
One particular program, CLUSTER’S Study Buddy Program serves a core group of thirty young individuals, between 14 and 18 years of age, who mentor and tutor younger children in CLUSTER’S After School and Summer Day Program. All our young participants in this program are low-income, high-risk students; thus, in addition to any preparation for their mentoring and community service activities, they receive additional support which includes life skills training, health and wellness, decision making, public speaking, and career and college exploration. The outcomes of this program speak to its success and its imperative need for the population it serves: 100% of participants who complete our program graduate from high school and go on to college, attending many prestigious institutions of higher education such as Bucknell University, John Jay College, New York University, Northeastern University, Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John’s University, State University of New York College at Albany, State University of New York College at Buffalo, Temple University and Westchester Community College.
At present, the Study Buddy Program has no funding and is facing elimination. This year, our participants were unable to go on our annual overnight college and career exploration visit to Washington, D.C. and Virginia, because of low funding; and we are currently facing the elimination of ALL our activities. Help us to maintain this vital program which opens the door to the future for such hard working, deserving youth. Your generosity can make the difference!
