Renovations to a Dineh Homesite
Who are we?
Carpenters For A Cause is a group of skilled carpenters compassionate towards housing inequality, especially in areas of the Navajo Reservation which have been denied all access to "Tribal Housing". CFAC is 100% volunteer and currently based from Englewood, Colorado.
What do we want do?
CFAC is focused on renovations to a Dineh homesite deep in Sovereign Dineh territory. In particular, we want to replace a disenigrating roof structure and provide metal roofing for an individual. In addition, we hope to add a rain catchment system later in the future.
Why?
The stuctures are currently inhabited and used by a staunch environmental and animal rights activist. He consistently speaks out against all fossil fuel and uranium extraction projects across "Turtle Island" and the occupied "United States". His home continues to be under duress due to forty years of non-cooperation with the U.S. Government to relocate him from his ancestral territory near Big Mountain. He wishes to continue living simply, the way his mother and father and grandparents once did. He doesn't desire classy new digs, electricity or central heating, however, a roof that doesn't leak cold wind and rain would be nice.

To fundraise and gather materials needed so that we can complete this project in June, 2017.
