CD recording C.P.E. Bach by CMDH

Baroque orquestra COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag will record a new CD in the fall of 2014. But first we need your help!

(Voor de nederlandse versie, klik hier: www.cmdh.nl/nieuwe-cd)

After our first CD, released in 2007, a lot has happened: we've played a variety of wonderful Baroque music to a broad audience of people in The Netherlands but also in Austria, Germany, Belgium, France and even Turkey! Our very own 'Stadstournee' has been to all corners of The Hague in its 6 editions (more to come!), we have a loyal and enthusiastic audience that follows our development and a lovely group of musicians that helped us create memorable concerts with CMDH.

We've stayed true to our ideals and in these past 7 years we focused on the repertoire that we call our own: the 'Collegium Musicum' concept has provided us with a wide range of inspiration, and allowed us to perform wonderful programs of known and less known composers, also paying tribute to important figures in music history such as Dutch-based, mogul music-publisher, Estienne Roger.

This year we celebrate the 300th birthday of one of the greatest, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, himself a member of father Bach's Collegium Musicum. We simply love his music, and having performed it not only with the orchestra but also with our chamber ensemble, we felt this would be the right moment to record a new CD: fantastic music, a more mature CMDH and an important moment in history to be remembered. Looking forward already!

Part of the repertoire of the CD was performed last May in The Hague. Besides works by Emanuel Bach, other pieces connected to him and to the empfindsam style (a language he undoubtedly brought to excellence) will also be recorded: two of his orchestral pieces - a symphony and a harpsichord concerto; a very exciting sonata for violin, cello and harpsichord obbligato; a symphony by his brother Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, also featuring the empfindsam style; and, last but not least, we go all the way to Naples to dig out some of the roots of this style, with a recorder concerto by Francesco Barbella.

But for this project to come true WE NEED YOUR HELP! Such a project involves a very long list of costs and with this crowdfunding campaign we hope to raise the necessary funding to realize it. We can already count on the financial support of the SENA Foundation, but in order to do justice to this thrilling music, we need a lot more financial help. Donations can be made from any country and our goal is to raise the necessary funding until the end of October 2014.

We came up with many ways of saying thank you to the ones who will help make this happen with their generous donations: a CD (or two, or three!) or the CD to download, free tickets to a concert by CMDH (in 2015), to take part in a meet & greet with the musicians or even a private concert. The different reward levels are listed below and any help will be very much appreciated!

We would also be very grateful if you would endorse our campaign by becoming a 'CD ambassador', telling all your friends, colleagues and neighbors about our CD campaign. Help us make this a very successful campaign so we can turn it into a beautiful new CD!

Watch the video above and hear a little of what this CD will be about, with a short live recording of one of the pieces: the 'Allegro di molto' of Emanuel Bach's Symphony Wq. 183/1.

With our very best wishes,
Claudio Barduco Ribeiro
