Care for Children and Elderly Living Association (CCELA) is a licensed non-political, non profit and non governmental organization in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
CCELA has the following programs:
Orphanage Care:
CCELA has one home in the city. We use it for rehabilitation and shelter where children receive the needed care and support. We provide a quality and family-oriented holistic services whenever children are admitted to our homes.Services provided by our orphanage are:Shelter, Educational, adoption, Psychosocial, Food and Nutrition Health care and Cloths. We have nurses, psychologists, social workers, caregivers, cookers, and other supporting staff members in a well organized manner..
Child Sponsorship:
This program is meant for supporting the effort of guardians and relatives of orphaned and vulnerable children so as to enable them to go to school and provide basic needs such as food, cloth, medical treatment, psychosocial, and provision of educational materials. We propose 25 USD per child per month to cover 35 children needs including running cost. Sponsors will have updates on where there money goes and how the sponsored child is doing. This program involves those children who live with their guardians, relatives and extended families.
Reunification:
Extreme poverty, inability of parents to provide the needs of their children, family disintegration, hostile home environments and the effect of HIV/AIDS are among the major reasons for the children to end up in the street. The Ethiopian government estimates that there are about 150,000 children live in the street and around 60,000 of them are in Addis.
In this program, children who face life difficulties on the street will be admitted to a temporary to our shelter home where they are rehabilitated. After the rehabilitation period when preparation for permanency is completed, those who have parents and relatives will be reunified with their parents or extended families after the assessment and empowerment is done. The reunification shall be based on the willingness of both sides.
Elderly Support:
CCELA has supporting 20 elderly peoples in the two sub-cities namely Kirkos and Yeka. Economical, Medical and psychological support is provided to those elderly peoples in every month. One of the aims of elderly care is to help elderly people and those with disabilities live normal and independent lives.
Child Care Skills Training:
This activity was designed by CCELA to address the developmental needs of children through capacitating the guardians with professional knowledge and skills that will enhance the healthy psychosocial development of children.
Adoption:
According to the guideline of the country, inter-country adoption is used as last resort because all the options domestically needs to exhausted before placing children for inter-country adoption.
CCELA places only those children who do not have option domestically. Therefore, we have a great deal of focus to work on domestic options than the last resort. We have placed around 13 children in inter-country adoption for the last 3 and half years. We use partners who are ethical, reputable and who work in the best interest of the child.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
In January 2016, our international partners notified us that they would no longer to be able to fund us. We are currently organizing new funding, but at this moment are in critical condition or running out of resources to keep the doors open. the 30k we are raising will fund our programs for 6 months. Any contribution will be thankfully appreciated and will make a difference fr the children and elderly benefiting from our programs.
