CANCER SUCKS - Help Jesse Fund

Donazione protetta

CANCER SUCKS!   We all may think of how devastating it is to be diagnosed with Cancer, but when you are the one diagnosed with this illness….it is quite different.  First, you think – why is this happening to me?  Then, am I going to make it through this and if I do, how can we afford the treatments?

Cancer has impacted everyone’s lives on many different levels and statistics say that 1 of every 2 men and 1 of every 3 women could develop cancer in their lifetime.   I cannot imagine dealing with the stress of cancer, let alone the expenses that would pile up.  Then add having to have the treatments done hundreds of miles from the comfort of your home and loving family.

Cancer has again unexpectedly impacted our family.  As many of you may know, Jesse (our brother, friend, co-worker, uncle and Pep) was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.  In just a few short weeks he, his wife Carol, their children and grandchildren have been through a whirlwind of emotions as you can well imagine.

After receiving some pretty shocking news from a local doctor, Jesse and Carol quickly decided to get a second opinion.  Their decision thankfully landed them at a Cancer Specialty facility in Pennsylvania with a plan to attack the cancer cells.

The initial chemo and radiation treatments begin this week  in Philadelphia and will take months.  The trip to and from the hospital, from where they are staying, is one and a half hours each way.  This must be done at the time that the facility dictates and could be during the morning or evening rush hours.  Adding to their stress, imagine being from “small town” Madawaska, ME and being thrown into driving into the heart of Philadelphia daily!

Unfortunately, the world does not stop while all this is going on.  In addition to the normal daily expenses in life, now there are travel expenses, and being away from home for months and then there are all the Medical expenses that exceed their insurance or not covered.  The bills, however,  continue to come in and seem to multiply.

Neither Jesse or Carol can work during his treatments.  No one really knows when/if he will be able to go back to work.  Carol, being self-employed, doesn’t get paid when she isn’t working.  This only compounds the expenses with the loss of their income.

Jesse and Carol have always been there to help others through Jesse’ music or Carol’s countless hours on the board of Trial and Error.  Now, they need our help.  Can we count on you?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. We are hopeful you will be able to help us make this campaign successful.  Together, we can help to releive some of their stresses .  Please consider a generous donation!  It will also help if you can pass this on to others who can/will help by sharing the GoFundMe campaign to your/their Facebook page or emailing the link below to your contact list.
