Robin's Cancer and Home Living Fund

This is an update to Robin Grove's campaign, and for those who have been following and praying along, you know what a journey we have been on. If not, i have included a summary below.

We have been fighting the cancer battle for over a year now, and just got devastating news that my mom, Robin Grove only has a couple more weeks left with us. Our family, my two brothers, grandma, and I, are still recovering from the loss of our father in 2013. This campaign has been updated for anyone who would like to donate to our family for bills and food, as we figure out how to adjust. My brothers, Dylan Grove (25), Brandon Roberts (17) and I will try to remain living together and supporting each other along side our grandmother, Shirley Roland. We will be splitting the cost of rent, utilities, and food, and any money here will go towards these expenses as well as funeral arrangements.

March of 2016, my mom visited the hospital for severe stomach pain, and the diagnosis would change our lives forever.

When she was admitted, we discovered she had a type of cancer called follicular lymphoma. The cancer was stage 4, and was found from the base of her skull to her mid legs.

She started chemo immediately.

We were thrusted into adapting to daily doctors appointments, medications, and figuring out financial struggles.

After her first round of chemo (6 months), we visited the doctor for a CAT scan for an update on the cancer. The scan revealed that the chemo had not helped the cancer go down.

We were crushed, but knew we had to move on.

We discussed options and came to the decision that she would try a more rigorous chemo.

While switching to the new chemo, we then discovered mom had a hole in her stomach, caused by a large tumor. This hole made it dangerous for her to eat and almost impossible for food to pass correctly through her system. The doctor decided that feeding tubes would be the best option for my mom to receive nutrition.

Robin soon lost her hair, and her health was constantly yo-yoing between rounds of chemo. She would be in and out of the hospital every couple of weeks. But we stayed strong.

By the end of the new rounds of chemo, we learned her cancer was completely gone everywhere in her body-except the mass in her abdomen that caused the stomach problems-although this mass greatly shrank.

A couple more rounds of chemo passed, and we scheduled a new CAT scan. This time, the scan revealed the cancer had tripled in size...in one month.

We worked with the doctor to figure out what options we had next. Mom had a stint placed into her stomach, to try to begin eating again on her own and weaned off the feeding tubes.

She had a wonderful week, where she got to go on a date, see her friends at a Valentine's Day church party, and spend some sunny warm days out at lunch with me.

A couple nights later, she was rushed to the hospital with a 103.8 fever. Tests concluded the tumor had grown 6 times its original size, and there is nothing left doctors could do.

Robin Grove has been given 2 weeks to live, and we are determined to make the most of those two weeks.
