Bruno's Buddies

Bruno was born on November 9th, 2014 in Missouri.

He came into my life on January 11th, 2015 (at 9 weeks old).  Happy, Loving and EVERYTHING I COULD HOPE FOR!

He had his 1st respiratory emergency on January 17th (at 9 weeks 6 days) and was diagnosed with Bordatella Pneumonia, which then quickly pluralized.  Additionally, he contracted an extremely rare parasite (via an esophageal worm, of which the parasite is not native to this country).  He had all of this when he was purchased in Westchester and after the Pet Shop’s vet cleared him as "HEALTHY and ready for sale.”

He was admitted at East Fishkill Animal Hospital on January 24th (at 10 weeks 6 days) after spending almost every other day there, since January 17th.

He was transported in Respiratory Crisis and Hypothermic to VCA Specialty Animal Hospital in WF for an Emergent procedure and 24 hour Critical Care, including staying in an Oxygen Tank 24 / 7 on January 29th (at 11 weeks 4 days old).

On February 18th, 2015 at exactly 8:00 am while laying comfortably in my lap, wrapped in his favorite blue blanket (and surrounded by the staff of AMAZING doctors / staff that so desperately tried to save him, at VCA Specialty Animal Hospital).... Bruno entered eternal rest peacefully. He was 14 weeks & 3 days old.  Way too young to die and after a long and exhausting fight…. that cost well over $20,000.

I honestly believe that when tragedy hits it's your opportunity (and responsibility) to shed light on what's wrong with the "system."

Now whether or not Bruno came from the Breeder / puppy mill (in Missouri) with these issues, or if he was exposed to these things during IRRESPONSIBLE TRANSPORTATION, or if the Pet Shop in Westchester was / is aware of the shady people they are dealing with or not is unclear.... HOWEVER, what is clear is that ALL OF IT WAS AVOIDABLE!

I want everybody to know that this DID NOT HAVE TO HAPPEN! Irresponsible Pet Shops / Brokers who KNOWINGLY deal with puppy mills, backyard breeders / irresponsible breeders, shady transportation companies, etc. are to blame and SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. However, due to the laws of the land and loop holes that exist, especially from state to state, the most effective way to deal with this issue is by NOT SUPPORTING PET STORE. DON'T BY ANIMALS FROM A PET STORE OR A "BREEDER" that you haven't researched well (or at all)! ADOPT, RESCUE and / or FOSTER! There are PLENTY of great dogs and cats out there waiting for a forever home, please start there.

Now instead of raising money in Bruno's Honor, my sister and I raising money in his MEMORY! Please consider helping us keep Bruno’s Memory alive, by helping others get their furry FAMILY MEMBERS the care they need, but that their owners may not be able to afford!  Had it not been for the generosity of  an individual who stepped up and took care of all of Bruno’s medical expenses (in hopes of saving his life)… my Fur Baby would have never been given a chance.

(via the two facilities that went above and beyond to try and help Bruno (East Fishkill Animal Hospital and VCA Specialty Hospital).  Bruno’s expenses are what I am hoping to raise via Go Fund Me and then annually maintain the fund via other fundraisers and events.

Lastly, I sincerely thank you for all of the love and support.  Now let's get to work and raise awareness, so that Bruno's Fight wasn't in vain!
