Dear Starlight Family and Friends,
I want to thank you for an outstanding 2015 season. At the beginning of our 2015 season (our 16th summer season) I thought we had secured Starlight’s future. Two fine young gentlemen bought the theatre and hired me to be the Artistic Director and assured me the future of Starlight was set. I was receiving a monthly paycheck and was assured the theatre was secure for years to come.
Then, in late November I received an unexpected call from the new owners stating that they would be turning the theatre back over to the Davis family. With several other businesses to run, Starlight was simply too much work for them.
Panic set in as I realized that not only would I not have a paycheck any longer, but that the interim owners had not set any money aside to produce a 2016 summer season.
After a few days in shock we gathered our children together and we discussed the future of the theatre. All of them unanimously said that we had to do whatever it takes to keep the theatre going, No matter what.
As of January 1, 2016 we officially have the theatre back. There are numerous bills that have to be kept up to keep the theatre going; power bills, phone bills, insurance, etc. On top of that we have to come up with $40,000 in royalties for our 2016 summer season.
After meeting with our accountant and going over all the books, we need to raise $75,000 to keep the theatre up and going. As a family we are out looking for corporate sponsors, but as we have found in past experience, that will not be enough, so we are asking all of our Starlight family and friends to donate at least $20.00. If 3,700 of our family members will do this we will meet our goal of $75,000.
We thank everyone for all your support of Starlight and hope you find it in your heart to donate to our 2016 season. If everyone joins in it will not be a burden on any one party, and we will be able to keep producing Broadway Musicals Under The Stars for you and your families!
