Friends of Central Falls Animals try very hard with limited resources, including no dedicated shelter. They received a call from a woman stating she found a large rabbit in a very small cage. She took the rabbit home but didn't know how to care for her. She fed her only carrots for over 24 hours until FCFA was able to contact her again and pick up Bonnie.
When she was found, her cage was so small she had no choice but to sit in her own waste for god knows how long. The Animal Control Officer gave her a bit of a sponge bath to help alleviate the urine burn she was suffering.
Bonnie is said to be a Flemish Giant Rabbit. She's just under 8 pounds now and can get as big as 22 pounds full grown. She's estimated to be approximately 5-6 months old.
This girl is SUPER sweet and everyone who meets her is completely smitten with her. I have taken her in as a foster rabbit so she gets properl socialized and can have the space she needs to run, play and be loved on like she deserves.
She is going to need to be spayed and receive vet care for her urine burns. She's also started pulling out her own fur from stress, which we hope will end once she's out of the shelter. Right now we hope her vet bills will be minimal but simply spaying a rabbit can be costly and potentially medications for her fur/skin issues.
If her vet bills end up lower than our goal, the remainder will be donated to Betsy's Fund , run by Providence Animal Rescue League , that helps animals with extreme vet care needs.
