Help Me Get Home
For the last 12 years I've had a sunglasses store on the coast of Maine giving me extensive customer service & experience running my own shop. I love it but it's time to go home to Western Maine.
Home is an important thing to me. I lost my family at 15. I learned to rely on myself for answers, stay honest with myself and the world. I learned that I can do anything.
Past employment includes Arbys, KFC & Wendys making the food, as well as packaging/selling it.
I've also been a waitress at four different Mom & Pops type restaurants and a truck stop.
I was a fan of the mud runs here and walked into the hand cut fries/burgers concession and started having so much fun, I wound up doing the jobs of 3 people!
I did this for an entire summer for nothing more than free admission but it was so fun I kept going back.
I've used the flattop grill, deep fryers .. all the equipment I'll be putting in my truck.
This campaigns success will help more than me, it will give another couple a chance at their own business selling sunglasses by the seashore! I've found an experienced couple with who is excited to run my store which will allow me to run the food truck summer of 2019! If I do well enough with the truck I can #PayItForward with this couple owning the sunglasses stand!
Helping me get a new start in life will also be helping them to do the same.
The ripple of your donation goes further than me.
Further than that couple as I intend to help the local homeless shelter and food bank as soon as possible.
Not fooling myself about this being 'easy'.
It is hot and physically demanding work however this will extend my working season allowing me to earn a better living.
I've done it for other people so it stands to reason that I have the experience to do this for myself.
My sunglasses shop has gone through many changes in order to provide a higher quality of service and the largest selection in the state. I'm proud of it.
The community has been very supportive everywhere I've turned. Several businesses along the major route have told me that they are happy to let me set up for a very reasonable rate.
THIS is the Food Truck that I bought:
The Blue Spruce Grill << Link to my page on FaceBook
I don't expect you to provide my fantasy of $25,000 for a truck all set to go twice the size of mine (*miracles DO happen, so I threw that number out there. A girl can dream!).
I saved and got the trailer and have enough cash to outfit it with equipment and upgrades to the tanks as well as the serving window. Then the van died.
I am asking for the bare minimum I need to get my feet under me. I'll take it from there and grow.
Food trucks are new to Maine, there is only one in my area of the foothills!
People were stopping me asking about it as I pulled it into town the day I bought it!
It generates curiosity and excitement!!
I am in need of a good used towing vehicle, $5-6k. It needs to be dependable.
If a miracle happens I could get a salad prep unit (@$1500).
There I go dreaming again!
I'm not afraid of hard work & was ready to get the truck up and running until the van decided
to live in the junkyard.
Thank you for your interest & generosity.
If you are planning a Christmas miracle for me, please can you do it for Hanukkah?
I need to know I have enough put aside before signing my lease for the Pier next year before the New Year. Thank you for your donations and your sharing my campaign.
