WE'RE GOING TO ANIME EXPO IN LOS ANGELES!!!

So, as you likely already know, Blake's Dungeon is an independently curated and published geek & gamer magazine with an emphasis on geeks of color, female empowerment, and LGBTQ+ representation in pop culture. We do reviews for comic books, pop culture movies, off-beat music, tabletop games, and interviews with artists, writers, creators and cosplayers who embrace the love of their geekdom!
WE JUST GOT AN E-MAIL from LA's Anime Expo that confirms we've been APPROVED for press credentials! This means that our terrifying Dragon Lord will be UNLEASHED upon the unwitting populace to share the glory of his impending world domination, and in doing so fold all kinds of awesome cosplayers, writers, makers, doers, cosplayers, geeks, freaks, nerds and weirdos of all kinds.
There's just a hitch. Getting there.
See, an ancient dragon spreading his wings and flying across the country and landing in the middle of a metropolis like the City of Angels might cause a bit of a panic. He scares people in his true form. And a lot of the legal mumbo-jumbo requires him to don that despicable human-suit of his to do business. We're going to bring some goblins to cause some well-deserved chaos, worry not! But still, there are logistics to consider.
TRAVEL
Although a bus is less expensive, it's a... 3-day voyage. The most efficient way would likely be flying (albeit in one of your human airplane contraptions), which is ringing up at about $300-350 for a round trip.
LODGING
We aren't going to try and find a mansion or palace grand enough for our Drake -- such a thing doesn't exist. And really, he lives in a cave, so as long as it's dark when he goes to sleep and it doesn't rain on him, he can endure for a week (and we will all sleep happier while he's abroad), so we'll keep it simple. Right now, AirBNB starts at anywhere from $50-200 a night of lodging, with an average being about $85-90. If we fly in on the 3rd to see the pre-day shenanigans on the 4th, that's 6 nights x $85 is a little more than $500. We could PRAY to get a cheap room for under $50, but realistically, a LOT of people are going to be at this con, and I'm not going to assume we're that lucky. I did see some combo prices of hotel + flights starting around $1200, so cutting it down to $800 with an AirBNB would be very economical. We have a couple people local who we are going to try and share hotel fees with, but we'll still need some funding for that.
FOOD
We can probably last a week on $10 if there's a fridge (ham and cheese sammies anyone?) but realistically that's a fine way to make yourself sick. And a week of nothing but granola bars isn't exactly a hearty meal. Make it an average of $20/day (so you can throw in a slightly pricier dinner out with some NEW FOUND FRIENDS if at all possible... or two) and you get another $120.
...If we round it up to $600, that should cover the basics, I think, with a little extra for fan art and a bottle of $3 water here and there. (You know how conventions are.)
ALL IN ALL, A PRETTY LOW BUDGET TO SET. And we have until July (preferably SOONER) to do it. If you, or anyone you know, is in the LA area that we can meet up with at the con and get them involved with Blake's Dungeon, LET US KNOW! Otherwise, donations to the cause would be greatly appreciated!
And really, everyone here at home base would be more than overjoyed to have a holiday from the acid-spitting serpent. Please. It's for us more than it is for him. Have mercy.
