Blake Family Fund
Katherine and I met when we were young. We grew up in small town, rural Mississippi; in a town where everyone knows each other on a first name basis. When we came out as transgender, we faced rejection by our families. My entire family and all but one member of Kat's family is no longer apart of our lives.
We have two beautiful, rambuncious youngsters. They are six and three. We do home-school for them. I am the lead learning coach, participating M-F online.
We are both transgender advocates and activists. We do volunteer outreach in the community. Katherine works with the Trans Lifeline. She is a team lead, an operator doing peer support, encouragement, suicide prevention and crisis intervention, as well as assisting with the start up of a new line being created for friends, families, and allies of transgender people.
I write the blog Two Trans One Van. I am also the administrator of 4 online support groups for transgender folks. I volunteer as an independant recruiter connecting trans folks to jobs that work for them. Also up and running is a transgender parents group for parents that are also transgender. Currently I am working on another project for geared toward education that will be up and running soon!
I am disabled and have been fighting through that process for the last six years. So I perfrom countless hours of work for free for the transgender and LGB communities. If you can help our small family of four conintue this life changing work, we would be forever grateful! Any contribuition is appreciated :)
Many thanks and blessings!
We thank you for continuing to uplift, encourage, and support our family through our hardships. One more obstacle to overcome, and that's disability. I have an imaging appointment tomorrow for MRI's to see if my shoulder and knee require surgery. The provider believes I may need a rotator cuff repaired in my shoulder and a cyst removed from my knee. We will soon see what the future holds. Also, I've been started on two new medications that I've been adjusting to over the last couple weeks as well.
Our family had a very blessed holiday. We have all enjoyed the games, toys, puzzles, and activities. 2018 is off to a great start, mostly thanks to our chosen family & friends.
We value and appreciate all of our allies, friends & chosen family <3.
Thank you to all of our donors and if you want to donate but want to use another method we do have pay-pal.
Our newest post for Two Trans One Van is up for the family update you can view it here:
Thanks for reading and sharing!
Katherine is now the training coordinator and team lead over the new volunteers of the up and coming Trans Family Line, for family members of transgender folks to reach out for support as well. She still is serving her position as Team Lead, and Staff Operator for the Trans Lifeline.
Disability, well I have to start over since I'm now residing in another state than California, the most resent state I applied in. I have launched a new website called Three Two One Trans, an informational site with videos (more to come) for transgender parents. I'm facilitating Trans Lives Matter now, an events, news, and informational site, as well as the 4 support groups and the group for updates on the Three Two One Trans project. We just had a release of our interview with Callie Wright from "The Queer Side", which you can find on Patreon. We also were guests at the Online Empowered Trans Woman Summit, hosted by Cassie Brighter.
If you can help us continue our outreach and support, please do so! You're very appreciated.
