As most of you know, I have been living in India the past 9 years with my family, however, I have also been very busy professionally, working to develop quality resources for women seeking options for natural birth in India. In 2007 I co-founded a natural birthing advocacy and networking group called the Bangalore Birth Network (BBN). Over the years the BBN has been an essential resource to families and birth professionals in Bangalore and across India. The BBN is now at a crossroads, and needs additional financial resources to grow and expand in our efforts to provide better birth options to women in India.
You can help us improve upon the resources available to pregnant women and their families in this under-served part of the world, through your support of our immediate fundraising initiative.
We are seeking seed funding to partner with the International Mother-Baby Childbirth Organization for a demonstration project to improve the quality of maternity care in a government hospital, serving women of lower socio-economic status. The Demonstration Site is a training, clinical supervision and quality improvement program being tested for the first time in India. The program focuses on two major concerns in maternity care today - respectful care and evidence based care.
