Ben Waiting on Disability

I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. When I first heard those fateful words from my doctor I was a little "shaken".  

I continued my career, as a magician and public speaker as long as I could, longer than I should have. It wasn't pretty. My speech was affected, and I was having trouble with balance. When a magician is falling for his own tricks, it is time to stop. I have no income currently. My Neurologist and Primary doctor fully support me being disabled. I applied for Disability in December of 2016 and was denied in May of 2017. I have obtained a lawyer and am awaiting a date for a hearing. If approved it will take a couple more months before I start receiving benefits. There is no guarantee when I will get a hearing. I am told probably around June of 2018.

My wife Leah works hard.  She drives school buses for Holly which gives us some money and health insurance. She also works a job cleaning offices and cooks food to sell when she can. I am blessed with a wonderful wife of forty years. But this is not enough to meet our bills and expenses.  Others have helped us already and we are very grateful. We would have lost our home if not for the generosity of a few friends, family and church.
As of now, we have not paid our May mortgage and our Consumers Power payment is dangerously behind.  Our old cars need repair. I also have some expenses related to my Parkinson’s that are not covered by insurance. This money would help us keep our home and get us by for a while. The full amount would bring us almost current.
