Battling To Regain Health Again After A TBI With Multiple Problems: - Surgery Fundraiser For Endometriosis

Hi, I'm Vanessa Visnovits, and on April 28, 2010, I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, which changed my life forever.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

My injury took place during my first year in high school in yearbook class, sitting two seats from the teacher.  A student came up behind me and put one hand on my forehead and the other hand under my chin, whipped my head back, did a military choke hold, held my head down for over 30 seconds, and tried to stab my eye out with a pen.  This incident not only changed my life, but put my body into shock thus resulting in a traumatic brain injury.

The physical problems this injury caused was that my thyroid did not function properly for over two years, my eyes went into a comatose state due to shock to the system for three years, I was unable to walk on my own due to balancing issues, I was unable to exercise for two years due to pain, body swelling, eyes throbbing and mucus forming behind my eyes, and I did not have a menstrual period for three years and my hormones were and still are imbalanced.

I now have developed endometriosis and I am in need of surgery.  This is a chronic condition, and this disease is usually born with and is in a persons genetics, but in my case it's due to my system not working properly due to my injury.

ENDOMETRIOSIS:  I will endure.  I will flourish.  And I am still beautiful!

Endometriosis is a hormonal and immune condition, which may attach to the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the exterior of the uterus, the bowel, or other internal parts. As hormones change during the menstrual cycle, this tissue breaks down and may cause painful adhesions, or scar tissue.  Endometriosis is having open blisters inside of your body.

No one really seems to understand what I mean when I say I'm in pain, somedays are better than others, but I'm always in pain.  At times the pain get so severe I am unable to walk, stand, sit or move it is immobilizing. The pain gets so intense I have to fight to stay concious and to not throw up.  The after effects of this pain is enormous; I am sore from head to toe but especially my pelvic area, hips and butt and you are so fatigued afterwards it takes days to recover if not weeks and by the time you feel recovered it starts all over, it's a never ending vicious cycle.

In addition to all the physical changes my brain injury has caused,  it has also brought a loss of a career of being a professional dancer and a disruption in my education.  I am 21 years old and still in high school.  Most of my teaching has to be one on one and mostly verbal.  I have learned to read and write in braille, which the education system did not think I could learn at my age.  It has change my plans for the future, which includes taking my dreams away of ever being able to dance professionally again and set backs in my education.  My GPA is 3.8 and I will be graduating from high school next year at the age of 22, and going onto college.

It has altered the way I meet and make friends, realationships, and has affected the way I think about myself.

PLEASE HELP!  Fundraiser For My Surgery:

Dr. Andrew S. Cook, Founder and Medical Director of Vital Health Institute is one of the world's top specialists in this disease and the long term success rates are very high he has a 94% success rate, (which is uncommon for endometriosis surgery - many women have upward of 8 surgeries with no lasting results.)

I don't know what God has in store for me, but I'm standing on his promises.

The Visnovits family is deeply touched by Dr. Andrew S. Cook, who will be doing this surgery and has given my family a major discount; and by Dr. Shanhong Lu, who has given me such customize medical care. Also to our friends and community for their support during the last 6 years.

Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $500 or $1,000+ will allow me to have a better quality life.  Hoping to finish high school at the age of 22 years old, and continuing onto college.  My goal is to give back, and to stop bullying nation wide, because this is how it all began.

Thank You so much for your support!

XoXo,
     Vanessa Visnovits
