SEKAJIPO Goes BackToAfrica

Donation protected

Dawyen Lance Sekajipo, more commonly known by his stage moniker, Sekajipo Genes, is an all around renaissance man. Balancing the life of a full-time artist and activist, Sekajipo, translated as "the exception to the rule", is considered one of the hardest working talents in the local Miami music scene.

Originally from Monrovia, Liberia, Sekajipo was raised in the states since the age of 1, as a first generation immigrant of West Africa. Growing up in Tampa, Fl, his faith in God and obsession with hip hop music would become the bridge between his African heritage and American culture.

Since moving to Miami in 2009, he has been dedicated to the life of a mentor, missionary, and musician, fostering educational empowerment and social change through Hip hop. He has toured over 40 Miami Dade county schools while throughout the Greater South Florida area, and even internationally, in Haiti and Colombia, South America, rapping in both english and spanish.

To date, he is a guitarist and international performer, recording engineer, hip hop missionary for Catalyst Hip Hop Miami, Emcee professor with the PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy, as well as creator and instructor of the Art of Creative Writing and Lyrical Expression with The Motivational Edge.

"‹In 2010, Sekajipo released his 1st full length album, Revolution of the Mind-State. The album delivers a fresh blend of raw, edgy lyrics, filled with spiritually conscious and socially relevant content, completely free of profanity. Following the album was the release of two official music videos, "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZB90Yfr8X0">Hard Times" and "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=252ZInlV3EA">Revolutionary Love". Sekajipo is now preparing for a 3 month Back To Africa tour starting in Dec 2012, returning to his homeland of Liberia after 25 years.
