Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma have ravaged Texas, Florida, US Virgin Islands.  Amateur Radio is active helping with relief efforts.  Unfortunately some hams in the effected areas were also victims of these disasters.  Their communications equipment damaged or lost.  Many Amateur Radio Clubs and Emergency Communications groups are stretched thin on equipment.

As fellow Amateur Radio Operators our thoughts and prayers are with them, even if we cannot be physically with them.  But the need is great for relief efforts and communications assetts as local infrastructure has been disrupted and will remain that way for the near future.  The Audubon Amateur Radio Club can help.  We are looking to collect donations for our fellow Amateur Radio Clubs and Emergency Communications organizations like ARES and RACES that are active assisting those in need from within the effect areas.  But they need help.  They need radio equipment.  We are working on collecting donations to purchase equipment and create go kits to send down to these oganizations.
We are asking for your help to help us, help them.

Our National Association for Amateur Radio, the American Radio Relay League has been working hard on sending what equipment they have available to these areas.  But it not enough.  With back to back Major Hurricane Strikes and perhaps more on the way the need is now.

Due to this busy hurricane season, ARRL’s inventory of Ham Aid kits has been severely depleted. ARRL’s Ham Aid program loans Amateur Radio equipment kits to established ARES and partner agencies during disaster response, in order to establish Amateur Radio communications support.

ARRL has been supplying Ham Aid kits for the Hurricane Irma emergency response efforts in Florida and the US Virgin Islands. Thanks to Tim Duffy, K3LR, of DX Engineering, for quickly processing ARRL’s purchase of six HF transceivers, which enabled Ham Aid to respond within 24 hours to an equipment request from the US Virgin Islands. ARRL used FEMA resources for shipping, and the gear is on its way via contracted courier to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where it will be staged for deployment.

More Ham Aid equipment is needed for future requests. Locally, the Audubon Amateur Radio Club, which is an Affiliated ARRL Club, is collecting donations to purchase equipment to send to the effected areas to assist in relief efforts. We have specific equipment in mind to be purchased. You can donate via our website or through this go fund me page. If you would like to purchase specific equipment and donate to us that is fine too. Drop us an email and we will provide the information.

Please help Audubon Amateur Radio Club in this effort by contributing to the Ham Aid Fund, which is used to purchase new equipment as well as to refurbish/repair previously deployed equipment. Your contributions to Ham Aid are 100% tax deductible.
