A New Kind of Studio...

Hello, my name is Becky Yohe!
First off, let me just say thank you for taking the time to visit this site. I'm excited I have you curious about what is being created here in Lakeland, Florida!
Second, I thought you might like to know a little back story about me. Growing up, my mom was a teacher and my father was an artist. From the time I was fourteen, I worked in retail and quickly climbed to management upon earning my college degree. I studied and majored in Studio Art in college, with an emphasis on ceramics. After that, I married a wonderful man and became an art teacher at a private school in south Florida where I had the privilege of working with kids grades K-12 and I loved it!
Once our first child came along, I made the commitment to stay home. There, I did commission work, taught private art lessons, and began to teach adult painting classes in the evenings.
Since our move to Lakeland in early July 2014, starting a creative space and art studio has been heavy on my heart. I didn't know quite what it looked like at the time, but the desire was there ever since I left the classroom. I wanted to create a place where anyone, of any age, could come and pick up a paint brush. I would like to offer after school art classes, art portfolio development, private lessons, and evening adult group painting classes. This studio would be involved in the community, incorporating schools, and building creativity through art. Even in these beginning stages, I have had such encouragement from family and friends to follow this dream. It has been through these conversations that I found my strength and courage to continue persuing a space and a dream.
SO, here we are!! There is a space (exact location not yet being shared) that I think will be perfect for the studio, and the renovation is already under way! There isn't yet an opening date, however the goal is "Summer 2015". The name will be revealed later, so as to keep you in suspense! Things are coming together quickly!
All this being said, now it's your turn! My husband and I have felt led and been strongly encouraged to start this GoFundMe account to share our vision with everyone.
So, would you consider partnering with me on my journey to launch a unique art studio here in Lakeland? Your support, no matter how small, will truly make a difference! Thank you in advance for believing in me and sharing my passion for encouraging creativity. You guys are awesome.
