For many who know me it is my passions in life that make me do what I feel I need to do. As an artist, activist, and community advocate I have always been engaged in working to make conditions better in the areas of the arts and culture, Latino community, education and social justice.
I am doing just that by being elected on April 30, 2016 at my Congressional District Convention to serve as a National Delegate for Bernie Sanders. I am proud, honored, and privilege to represent my Senate District 52, Congressional District 2, and the State of Minnesota as a National Delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
I would like to ask for your financial support in making it possible for me to attend as an elected National Delegate at the DFL National Convention in Philadelphia July 25-28, 2016.
The funds will be used to cover the costs of travel, hotel, and meals. I was quite shocked by the amount of money it takes to attend this convention. The information quoted was that costs could be up to $4,000 to attend. The hotel stay alone will require a 5 night stay of $1,750. at $350. a night! Delegates are strongly advised that staying with the delegation is required as the whole time will be filled with meetings starting at the hotel from 7:30 am until 9:00 pm when we return from the Wells Fargo Convention Center.
Our delegation hotel assigned is 45 minutes away from Philly and we will be shuttled in secured buses which run on a limited basis. This could occasionally require to find alternative modes of transportation. Due to the convention, prices for services and meals will be at a premium. I will use this funds raised in a responsible manner and take as many cost saving measures possible.
My goal is to secure $3,500 by the end of June - at the latest the first week in July - so I may finalize reservations to attend. As a working artist my obligations are always nipping at my heels and going into personal debt would be unwise. I hope that the honor of representing will not set me back financially.
