Annie's leg surgery

Donation protected
Annie, as I've named her, is a stray cat that I encountered just over a week ago.

I saw this lady walking her small dog off leash with this cat following about 20ft behind them. I stopped to chat because I thought it was really cute. The lady informed me that the cat was not hers but had been taking 'walks' with them for about 3 weeks. The cat would walk with them, playing with her dog, follow them home and be rewarded with some milk. The cat would then be on its way. I could tell the cat had been a pet at some point in its life, so I gave the lady my number and told her if she trapped the cat to call me and I'd come get it to see if it was microchipped.

Just over a week later, on Friday the 13th, I received that phone call. The lady let me know that the cat had disappeared over the weekend and was gone for about 3 days. It came crawling back on Wednesday evening and had a broken leg and a bad sore on its upper lip. I told her I'd be right there to get the kitty.

I put my cat carrier together, rushed out the door calling my vet as I was going to get the kitty. I was able to get the cat and take her to my vet. My vet told me she had a broken leg (rear left leg) and unless someone was willing to cover the $2000 plus other fees for surgery, the best I could do is pain meds and hopefully it will heal on its own, even if it is deformed. You can see in the photo how when she is sitting that leg just kicks out at a weird angle. She has reflexes in it and there is still blood flow to it so she has a good prognosis for healing with surgery to pin/plate it.

The kitty is a female and she is microchipped. I was happy to hear this, but between myself, the humane society, my vet, and the microchip company we've been unable to locate the owner. We've left multiple messages so I'm just not sure if they don't want her back knowing she is injured, or if the number is no longer their number. I'm calling her Annie after orphan Annie.  She's a fighter and we'll find her a forever home.

I'm a cat lover with three fur babies of my own. I also have my human family. I do not have the funds to pay for this surgery on my own so I'm reaching out to other animal lovers to help me help this kitty. I paid for the vet visit and pain meds for her and am providing a warm, safe place for her to recover. I can tell, even with pain meds, she is hurting and it breaks my heart. I've been sleeping on my bathroom floor with her to keep her company

I'm not sure how much her vet bills will total only that I was told the surgery will be approximately $2000.

I hate to see this sweet kitty suffer and not be ably to use her leg. She is a very kind, sweet, loving cat that is around a year old. She has a lot of life left in her and I'm hoping you will help.

Any money above and beyond, I will donate in her name to Angel's Wish; a cat rescue where I've adopted my latest kitty from.

Thank you!
