Thank you for visiting my Go Fund Me!!

I am asking for help to fund this trip.  Any amount anyone could donate would be greatly appreciated :)

For the last 14 years I have been a high school teacher in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania.  I currently have my masters degree in education, and have taken graduate courses pertaining to economics, religion, gender, and international relations.  Two years ago I began completing a certification in Global Affairs at NYU to continue my personal and professional development.  Very quickly I realized that there were many amazing opportunities for me outside of the classroom.  I sought out programs which would give me the opportunity to receive training in another country, while at the same time enhance my teaching in the classroom.  I found a program through Global Youth Connect which takes young professionals and provides them a unique training experience in human rights and mass atrocity prevention.  One of the most significant aspects of the program is to provide me with the connections and resources to bring my training home and work towards creating programs within my school district or in my community to inspire others to embrace diversity and tolerance.  I made it over the first hurdle, but now the second hurdle, the cost.  I am looking for funding to cover the cost of the 2 week program in Rwanda, as well as airfare.

Here is the cost breakdown:

$2,800 - Program Cost
                    Includes local guides, local transportation,
                    meals, accomodations, delegation materials,
                    and tips.

The program fees are essentially due June 15, 2017.  Any amount will help me get one step further.

I would like to provide you with some additional information on the program.  The following is taken from Global Youth Connect :
The TURIKUMWE (We are Together) program brings young leaders from Rwanda and from around the world for an intensive two-week program exploring human rights and peace cultivation in a national and international context.

During the course of the program participants come together to explore different notions about human rights and peace education but also to learn more about how to take action to promote peace and genocide prevention worldwide.

Global Youth Connect, in partnership with INALAS Legal Aid Services, enhances the youth leaders’ personal interests and explores new angles on human rights, peace, mass atrocities prevention through group discussions, workshops, site visits, homestays and volunteer placements.

During the educational and inspirational two-week program, Turikumwe delegation meets with various governmental and non-governmental organizations, including: National Paralympic Committee (focusing on the people living with disabilities), Health Development Initiative (Sexual and reproductive health rights initiative), Rafa (LGBT rights), Embassy of the US, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Rwanda, Aegis Trust (preventing mass atrocities and promoting peacebuilding education), Ejo Youth Echo (using media to promote the culture of peace), Mind Leaps (street children social inclusion),  Chabha (children affected by HIV and AIDS), Ineza Cooperative (woman living with HIV), Esperance (football and sports for hope), etc.

Sincerely,
Amy
