MY Soon to be Written Tale of Two Cities

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Troi-Madisynn Boyer and I have been given the great honor of being one of the 20 People to People Student Ambassadors from our delegation to represent the United States on the "Exploring Europe: Tale of Two Cities" trip this coming summer.  We will be guided through England and France by experienced teachers on an educational journey to become compassionate, independent leaders and learn how to give back to our world-wide community.

I am a well-rounded, 11-year-old sixth grader with an open heart and mind.  My teacher believed I have strong leadership skills and a drive to succeed so she nominated me to be a Student Ambassador for People to People. I received the Academic Excellence Award when I culminated from elementary school last year and am a 2012 California Young Scholar Honoree.  I am currently a straight "A" student in the Gifted and Talented program at my middle school.  In addition to my scholastic achievements, I have also excelled in Track and Field.  In the summer of 2011, my 4x100m relay team brought home the silver medal from the AAU Junior Olympics "“ New Orleans.  I am a creative writer and love illustrating my own stories.  I also enjoy playing challenging video games.  I am honored that I have been chosen as a representative for our great country and it is my goal to become an upstanding global citizen and contribute to making the world a better place for our future generations.

People to People is not a non-profit organization and I am an individual working on raising the funds to pay for my trip.  It is a very important and personal goal that I do what I can to raise as much of my tuition as possible to pay my way for this great program.  Being a minor, I cannot get a job and save my income for my trip.  So, I am doing a lot of fundraising through things like bake sales and recycling.  I would also like to do what I can to be more socially responsible and give back to my community.

I am reaching out to you, my family and friends, in hopes that your generosity will help me participate in this wonderful opportunity to learn and grow.  I have set up two levels of donations that will help me get closer to my goal AND commit me to giving back to our community.  I am excited to give back in order to experience more of the world I inhabit.

  • $30.00 - I will provide an hour of companionship and support to a group of seniors in a local assisted living or convalescent facility, working together with them on art & craft activities, playing games, singing Karaoke, giving manicures, and hearing some really great stories.  Many cultures believe that elders are repositories and transmitters of great knowledge.  I love learning and look forward to these visits.

  • $100.00 - My family and I will donate an hour of our time to a charity in my area.  We are planning on donating time to Food on Foot (http://foodonfoot.org/) and other food banks, as well as community clean up organizations.

If I can reach my goal, I will be able to take part in an educational exploration program founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the early 1960s striving for understanding, friendship, and lasting peace in an effort to bridge the cultural and political borders.  Our curriculum will teach us about the history, culture, and people of the region.  After all, there is no better way to learn about culture than to experience it firsthand.  Our teachers will expose us to a wide variety of cultural adventures and encounters allowing us to grow through new experiences.

We will get to train as an honorary knight, walk along the beaches of Normandy, see Shakespeare's birthplace, and go underground to see secret World War II hideaways.
During our adventure, we will also see Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, spend a day in Disneyland Paris, and take a ride on the world's largest Ferris wheel!  I will get to see the world with a newfound perspective after experiencing these fun cultural activities that will satisfy my curious and adventurous spirit, inspire my imagination, and help me understand my place in history.

Needless to say, I am incredibly EXCITED to fulfill my desire to learn about other cultures and people!  If you would like more information about the program, please contact me or visit www.peopletopeople.com.  Please also visit my website, www.TheLiddle.com to learn more about me, my accomplishments, and my continued community outreach.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration in assisting me in achieving this incredible dream!  Please be reminded that any donation amount will help and I am truly grateful for all of your support in reaching my goal to explore and understand other countries.  I will be diligent and responsible in representing my community and country.

Sincerely,
Troi-Madisynn Boyer
