Alex, Lisa and Jarvie

Hi everyone

Thanks for coming to this page and donating to Alex, Lisa and Jarvie.

If you have visited this page before and donated, Alex and Lisa are eternally grateful and appreciative of every single donation that has really helped them navigate through 2018.

If you are able to donate again, or can share this with family and friends, any contribution helps.

At this time of year the purses are looking a bit empty and its completely understandable if you can’t afford a lot, but every donation you make goes straight to Lisa and Alex!

With neither working and having a newborn baby, ANY donation helps with bills, travel expenses, hospital car parking, rent, food and maintaining their lives. So please dig the coins out of the couch, go through your jean pockets, return a Christmas gift that you don’t like and donate to these wonderful people and their new family.

As most of you are aware 2018 has been a year of unexpected challenges and surprises for Lisa and Alex with the birth of Jarvie being a huge highlight of course.

While in her last semester of uni and having already lined up her full time position Lisa and Alex discovered they were pregnant!! A miracle baby was on its way!
Shortly after they were told Alexs cancer had returned.

Over the following weeks he would have unexplained seizures and feel generally unwell until further examination found he had tumors growing on his brain. He underwent multiple surgeries  and was given a vigorous chemo schedule to give him the best possible shot at beating cancer and being there for the birth of his son.

Alex has spent most of 2018 in and out of hospital for treatments and on November 3rd, he was admitted to Royal Prince Alfred hospital into the intensive care unit.

His liver decided it wasn’t a fan of the chemo and Alex went into liver failure.

His fighting spirit and young organs have been keeping the doctors, his family and friends and particularly Lisa on a roller coaster.

You know the spirit I’m referring to.

Lisa and Alex, they are fighters, they’re battlers, and they are stronger than one can imagine.

And they smile with those “sexy people” smiles through the worst situations.

Unfortunately Alex isn’t showing signs of improvement and although we all know he’s going to keep fighting, the doctors have asked to have conversations with Lisa and his family to discuss the options and his quality of life. This will be happening over the next few days and weeks.

I know that if you’re still reading this you may be thinking what else can I do? How else can I help? Can I go and mow the lawns or do the dishes?  Can I wash and fold the laundry?

Thankfully Lisa has a community of support behind her to do these kinds of things, but you can donate!

You can donate $5 and that’s a packet of wipes for Jarvies bum, you can donate $20 and that’s fuel for a trip from Wollongong, every little bit helps ease the financial burden of this unfortunate situation. If you’re sitting there feeling as I am, that money isn’t enough… then donate AND visit Alex.  Remind him of the life he’s lived outside the hospital walls, remind him of the crazy stories you have with him, encourage him to kick his organs into gear and remind him he is loved beyond words.

I would like to share with you some pictures and a video of Alex in intensive care from two weeks ago.

If you haven’t been in to visit Alex recently, please be aware the images may be confronting for you.

And while you are watching, please don’t forget who Alex was before the cancer treatments.

A handsome, happy go lucky, cheeky and adventurous man with a heart of gold!

Lets all keep this wonderful family in our prayers, reach out with your love and support, and please, donate!
