Well, it is all over. Thanks to all the wonderful support we had, we were able to provide the air hockey table plus many other wonderful things for the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.
The other items include:
* 10 PS3 game controllers
* 44 PS3 games
* 32 DVDs
* 4 Kindle Paperwhites plus chargers and covers
* Amazon gift card to cover purchase of books
* 119 gift cards for cold Stone Creamery (located on 11th floor of the hospital)
We also gave to the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (where Kayleigh goes to get her outpatient infusions)
* 4 portable DVD players
* 4 headphones
* 18 gift cards
Thank you so much for all your help and generosity. The children had already started playing with the table the moment it was installed! The children are super happy and so is the staff!
Hi Everyone! The air hockey table will be delivered to the Children's Hospital on Wednesday, January 15th. Thank you again to all our donors and to Betson for their generous support. Without you, this would never have been possible.
Here is a short video showing how we spent the remainder of the donations. Also, Betson was kind enough to let the kids check out the table before it gets delivered.
Here is the link to see the news story CNYCentral did on Kayleigh. She did a wonderful job and we are so very proud of her.
As stated in the story, we are looking to purchase many more items for the hospital Family Resource Center (library) and the outpatient clinic that Kayleigh receives her infusions at. So we are still accepting donations if you are willing to pass this along to other people.
Thanks so much for all your donations, you have made this possible.
Kayleigh just finished up an interview with CNYCentral. Her story will air tonight between 5:00 and 6:30 on channel 3 and channel 5. It should air again on CW6 at 10:00 and channel 3 and channel 5 at 11:00.
The air hockey table is scheduled to arrive the first week of January (it had to be special ordered).
Thank you again for everyone's support and generosity.
Great news! Betson is the leading distributor of amusement and vending equipment in the US. They just happen to have a branch here in Syracuse. They have agreed to sell us an air hockey table at cost as well as deliver it to the hospital and set it up. How awesome is that?
Speaking of tables, below is a video of the table that will be donated (except ours will be the free-play version). The sounds can be modified or completely turned off, so no worries there. Looks pretty cool to me!
Also, we have been talking with the hospital and they have expressed a need for PlayStation games, PlayStation controllers, movies, and gift cards. They have also been wanting to purchase Kindles and because of you, we'll be able to donate some of those too.
It will likely take a couple of weeks for the table to arrive but we will keep you all up-to-date. Thank you again for everyone's generosity. This has been an amazing experience for our family.
We have some disappointing news for all of our donors. Golisano Children's Hospital has informed us that they will be unable to accept our air hockey table donation. This, despite the fact that we met with them in late October to discuss our donation, and they agreed to it. Reasons that were provided included fire codes, space, and safety issues.
However, we promised our donors an air hockey table and that's what we plan on delivering. We have begun the task of contacting children's hospitals around the country in search of a worthy recipient. Our first choice is Golisano in Rochester. We will certainly keep everyone updated on our progress.
Any remaining money left over after the purchase of the air hockey table will be used to purchase items for Golisano at Upstate.
Thank you again for all your support and generosity.
Here's a pic of Kayleigh with her Certificate of Merit from the NYS Assembly in recognition of her fundraising efforts. She was so excited to receive this in the mail.
Although today is the unofficial end to our fundraiser, we're still going to accept donations up through Christmas. Thank you to everyone who donated! We will keep you all up-to-date with the next stage of our campaign.
We have some exciting news to share! Two weeks ago today, we launched our campaign not really knowing what to expect. As of this morning, we currently stand at $5,700! We have almost doubled our original goal and we still have 15 days to go!
To say that we are shocked and amazed is an understatement. We have received donations from 12 different states as well as Canada. Thank you so much for all the support and outpouring of love.
We are also excited to announce that Channel 9 News here in Syracuse is doing a story about Kayleigh and her fundraiser! As of right now, the segment is scheduled to air on Sunday, December 1st, at 6 and 11. This is subject to change but we'll be sure to keep you updated.
The family drove to the studio yesterday and met with Tammy Palmer. After we taped our interview (Kayleigh did wonderful, by the way) Tammy was kind enough to give us a tour of the station. How cool is that? We didn't see Ron Burgundy, but who cares? Tammy was a rock star and super nice!
Kayleigh Przytula wants to make Christmas a little brighter for the children at the Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse. Kayleigh is a former patient as well as a self-proclaimed air hockey ninja.
Her Christmas wish is to raise enough money for a new air hockey table for all the children who have to spend the holidays away from home. Will you help? Together, we can make a difference!
UPDATE Thanks to some very generous people, we flew by our original goal of $3,000 in just 4 days and then $5,000 in just 11 days. However, Kayleigh has very lofty ambitions and increased her goal once again to $7,000 by December 10th. Additional donations will be used to purchase other fun items for the children at the hospital.
