Wake Up Call against Sexual Assault

Donation protected
Every penny received from this fundraiser goes directly towards the fight against Sexual Assault......towards making our world stronger, wiser, and kinder.

I wrote a song called "Wake Up Call" inspired by the election of November 2016.  Very early on the morning after the results came in, I couldn't sleep.  So, my dog and I walked down to the lake.  We stood there staring across the water, waiting to see if the sun was still going to come up.  It did, in glorious fashion.  It always comes back.  I was suddenly filled with a feeling of determination and hope.  This was a Wake Up Call.

I believe that our world is going to be stronger and wiser and kinder because of the work that stands before us. We  have a long road ahead, but we also have an unprecedented opportunity and responsibility to work for what is right.

As I pondered the million ways we can make our world whole again, I realized that there are actually a million AND ONE ways to make it better.  I am that one.  And this is my way........

I am using my song to support an organization working tirelessly to make our world a better place.  The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA) is leading the charge against sexual violence in our state.  They strive to create the social change necessary to ensure a future where no child, woman or man is ever sexually violated again.   I am a Volunteer Victim Advocate for one of their regional agencies, the Sexual Assault Crisis Center (SACC) in Appleton, WI.   I have been awed and humbled by the difference the SACC is making in our area.

For any donation to this fundraiser, you will receive a free download of the song "Wake Up Call".  For various levels of support, you will also receive  a free download or hard copy of my last album Apollo or a print of the photograph I took of the exact sunrise that inspired this song.  I will absorb the expenses of this project to ensure that every penny received goes entirely to the cause.

"Wake Up Call" by Adria Ramos

It’s a wake up call
Cuz we slept right through the night
And if you’re not a morning person
I know it don’t seem right
But there’s so much work to do
Shower up, lace up your shoes
There’s a million and one….
Ways to make it better

It’s an invitation
On a morning still brand new
The dreams we all were dreaming
Are still gonna come true
Enough coffee, enough love
More listening, less talk
There’s a million and one…..
Ways to make it better

And the sun might not up yet; The day might seem so dark
And you don’t wanna believe it; But you know down in your heart
Everything turns
Can’t help but chase the light
And the world is spinning towards it
And it finds it every time
It’s the only thing that’s constant
You could set a watch to it
And I do

It’s a wake up call
To the things we didn’t see
Rose-colored glasses
Hid the colors we could be
Don't get stuck in the past
Keep the faith and make it last
There’s a million and one…..
Ways to make it better

It’s an invitation
To find the beauty everyday
Might have to wash the windows
But they need it anyway
Don’t be afraid of the dark
Lift up your head, your heart
There’s a million and one…..
Ways to make it better
