"To make a great dream come true, the first requirement is a great capacity to dream; the second is persistence."
Cesar Chavez

Meet Anyi Sanchez, Silvia Pascual, Martha Solis and Sandra Torres.

These amazing young ladies have the honor to represent the State of Louisiana at the National-level on June 11-15 with their project, "Cesar Chavez: Taking A Stand in History."  They are raising money for travel, food, and lodging in Washington, DC.

As 8th graders at John Quincy Adams Middle School, they participate in the English Language Learners program and have been in the United States less than two years. Their dream of speaking English and learning about their new home country gave them the perseverance to win first place at the State-level National History Day competition.

National History Day is year-long academic program engaging students around the world annually in conducting original research on historical topics of interest.

I am so proud of their work and their persistence. They did all of their research in Spanish interviewing several migrant workers as well as people at the Cesar Chavez Foundation and United Farm Workers. I am so proud of their efforts.

Please consider helping them get to DC. We need to secure reservations and hotel before June 1st, our gofundme deadline.
