Adam's String - Violin Documentary

As I walked passed it, I only saw a hint of it's glowing brown and orange varnish peek through the old wooden box that tried to protect it from the elements.


I picked it up, and stared. it's arching and curves, small and fragile neck. No strings attached, but like a beautiful and delicate vocalist who had lost her voice, it beckoned in the silence to be heard.


As I write these words, I think of my journey in the last few months, and the journey ahead, the one to discover the violin's maker, Adam Szymanski, whose 200 year old family legacy time forgot. Whose love of the world I have discovered, and most importantly, want you to discover.


My name is Oren Weizman and I am planning to create and direct a full feature documentary on Adam Szymanski, his violins, his genius, his unique life.  The money will be used to assemble a crew that will film in Montreal, Canada / St Petersburg, Florida / Potsdam, Germany.  

We plan to start filming in early December, this project means the world to me as it allows me to share a unique story that spans two world wars, amazing instruments and a forgotten man whose legacy deserves a voice beyond the 20th century.
