Abi's WDG2017 Canada dream
Donation protected
Abigail's has a rare form of Dwarfism, called Hypochrondroplasia. In 2015 Abigail competed in the Dwarf Sports Association (DSAUK) National games. Having never competed before or even stepping onto a running track, she won an amazing 10 medals!
As a Member of the DSAUK she has an opportunity to make up part of the Dwarf GB team and attend the World games in Guelph Canada 2017 and bring home yet more medals, this is because not many dwarfs can actually run, many swim and throw. However; in order to do this, she desparatly needs to raise funds to support her application to compete at WDG17 this is because the DSAUK have limited subsidisation available. The current estimate cost of this trip at present is approximately £6000.00 this is for flights, accommodation, travel cost whist in Canada and food for the 2-week period, it does not include any Kit or extra training I may need to be able to compete at these games.
Abigail's overall ambition is that by competing in this and other events, she could inspire others and not only those with disabilities to have a go and in turn start believing that they too can achieve something other than just being seen as different because of disabilities, colour or race. Also because Abigail is still under 16 she is unable to travel unaccompanied.
Thanks to the DSAUK, Abigail has shown that she has a talent for sport despite her disabilities and short stature. Therefore showing others just what you can achieve even if the odds are set against you.
Your support would mean so much to us as a family, as due to the declining health of Abigail's Mum, funding this opportunity with out help or sponsership would mean she would not be able to compete. Any donation no matter the size will help get Abigail to Canada and for that we will be very grateful for the support.
