A Second Chance For Dameon

Donation protected
Meet Dameon, my Bubby, my love, my rock, my foundation.

This winter Dameon had some upper respiratory problems that seemed to be going around between the kitties in the house. When we took him into the vet he seemed relatively healthy otherwise, and was at his usual weight of about sixteen pounds. Come this March, I noticed he'd started trying to eat the kitty litter, on top of a gradual loss of weight I had chalked up to me taking him off the fattier treats.

So I took him to the vet. Within about two weeks, after much testing and anxiety and tears, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer. Which is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer in cats.

At first I was told he could only have two to six months, if not less. After having testing done on his bone marrow, it was deemed he was 3% over the threshold for diagnosis. So without hesitation I agreed to start him on chemotherapy. (Of course after extensive research on my part before the results of the test, nerdy as always).

Dameon came into my life when I was 15, I'm now 27, so you could say I was a teen mom. I've gone through a few traumatic events in my life, which has left me with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). I also have concurrent manic depression. Dameon has been there with me through everything, and held me up when I couldn't support myself, and my social anxiety prevented me from being able to reach out for support from others. He means more to me than anything in the world, and I love him more than words can say, he's my little kitty soulmate.

This being said I have to give him a fighting chance, but I need help. Between my partner not working for a good portion of last year after being laid off and my anxiety preventing me from being able to work, I have no idea how we're going to pay these mounting bills. I've used any money I've put aside to start my graduate studies and am maxed out credit-wise.

To be quite honest I've been having anxiety attacks just thinking about asking others for help. My mother works at the animal hospital where he's receiving his treatment/care, so they're graciously not demanding payment at the time of each visit, and we are receiving some discounts. He's already been given his allowance of $2,000 for the year, and after his most recent stay which included a blood transfusion for his anemia, we're now back to a $4,700 bill. And unfortunately each visit in which he receives his chemotherapy is an additional $500. Which for now he's scheduled to have every two weeks.

He has a good chance of going into remission, as we've caught it early, and after his first round of chemo his numbers dropped by about half. Hes going to turn twelve this month fate-willing, and with continued treatment we hope to give him at least a few more years.

We have six other kitties who look at Dameon as their alpha, all of which are rescues basically straight off the streets.

(Dameon in the back, 4/6 fury babies in front of him)

When he was young he'd gotten out of the house and was gone for almost two weeks in the month of February - which before this, I believed to be the hardest few weeks of my life.

I know I'm asking a lot, for another chance to have him stay in my life, but I don't know what myself or the other furry babies will do if we loose him.

We appreciate any help we can get, even if you can't afford to donate, by passing on this campaign through a share on facebook or other social media, you could help create a ripple of awareness.

All money we receive will go directly to paying Dameon's current and future bills. If you are more comfortable with donating the funds to the hospital directly, you can contact Oradell Animal Hospital's billing department: (201) [phone redacted]. Dameon's account (5796) is under my mother's name, Deborah Nocito. Your donation will be added to the total amount of recieved donations towards the goal.

Thank you for taking the time to read this until the end, we will be forever grateful for any help we receive <3.
