Cadillac Restoration to Fight ALS

My name is Dan Cummings. I’m an auto-body and collision repair technician with a strong history in building custom cars and street rods. I plan to donate my 1970 Cadillac Coupe DeVille to the ALS foundation. A few years ago I lost my grandmother at a very early age to ALS. Also having recently had a close friend diagnosed with ALS, I’ve decided I have spent too much time watching the disease deteriorate people I love. I want to do something that will make an impact towards a cure. My grandmother put everyone she cared about before herself, her entire life.  She was our structure to our family. Shortly into her 60’s and immediately after she retired, she was diagnosed with ALS.  With taking care of everyone else and working her entire life, she was told she was going to die.  Not knowing much about it at the time, her and my family didn’t know exactly what to expect.  We watched the most gentle, caring woman we’ve ever known whither away, one day at a time.  As her mobility and muscle function disappeared, less than 2 years later, she passed away. This slow, horrible death has got to be stopped.  It is an awful disease that not only affects its victim, but their entire family too.  Someone must take care of them the entire time, which is no easy task either.  With the money I raise, I will build this car with the best of my abilities and raffle the car off.  I will be planning a very large event to give it away. The money I do not use will go directly to the foundation. I will work very hard to make sure we can raise as much money as possible to help find this cure.  No one deserves this disease.  I’d give anything to stop it. This means the world to my family and I.  This will make my grandmother very proud.  Please help us towards a cure so no one you know will have to endure this tragic disease.
