What is A Journey of Love all about?
A Journey of Love by Jennifer Douglas is more than just a novel, it is an inspiring true story of hope, love, acceptance and companionship. It is a book that educates on Autism and Greyhounds, both which are often misunderstood.
There lives, in Queensland, a Greyhound who has the power of a saint. Minnie lives true to her name in size, but her heart is far from small. Over the past few year's Minnie has been working hard, opening the door and leading the way for other ex-racing Greyhounds to take on the role as assistance dogs.
This is more than a story of a Greyhound, it is a story of a friendship for life. After being placed for adoption with Greyhounds New Beginnings Minnie found herself in the arms of Celeste, a 9-year-old girl who, with a diagnosis of Autism, was struggling to
cope with life.
Greyhounds are a patient and tolerant dog with a calming, sensitive and friendly nature. They thrive on human companionship and are very sociable. They are lazy, placid and undemanding, presenting with low maintenance and a big gentle heart.
With all this in mind it was only logical that when funding was successful for a Smart Pup Assistance Dog Minnie would be put to the test. With the idea of giving rescue dogs new lives as assistance dogs Smart Pups opened a Greyhound pilot program using Minnie as the trial dog.
There is a special something between Minnie and Celeste that is hard to explain. It is more than a love, it is an understanding. In Minnie Celeste has found her super-hero. For Minnie there is no super-hero cape, just a service dog coat of red and black. With Minnie by her side Celeste has a new found confidence that enables her to tackle the little things in life that we all take for granted.
A Journey of Love speaks of the struggles of a mother's love and determination to help her child find her place in this world. A place where her Autism and anxiety no longer rule her life but instead are replaced with understanding, love, compassion, and friendship.
Why this fundraiser?
This fundraiser is three fold:
1. To raise much-needed money for two not for profit organisations: Smart Pups Autism Assistance Dogs and Greyhounds New Beginnings. $2.00 from the sale of each book goes to each organisation.
2. Allows readers to pre-order a copy of the novel, giving them the opportunity to be one of the first people to read A Journey of Love. Pre-ordered copies will be received prior to the release of the book to the general public. Pre-ordered copies come signed by both Jennifer Douglas and Minnie.
A Journey of Love is scheduled for release to the public on 25th May 2017. Pre-order copies will be received the end of March 2017 ( two months before public release ).
(update: A delay in publication has seen the preorder to be early June 2017 )
3. Let's face it self-publishing costs money. Crowdfunding allows the publishing of pre-release copies to be paid for in advance, guaranteeing copies arrive on time. Regardless of how much money is raised using this fundraiser A Journey of Love will be published on the dates mentioned.

For those outside this area, a Skype session will be provided. You will also receive a signed paperback, material bag, bookmark, and postcard.
