"Without MUSIC, Life Makes No Sense..." -- Nietzsche

Julian Jensen could not agree more.

Sure, today Julian is a key member of the National Champion Show Choir, POWERHOUSE from John Burroughs High School, a section leader and dance captain for the JBHS all boys' unit, MEN @ WORK, and a bass vocalist, vocal percussionist, and arranger for the high school's elite VOCAL ENSEMBLE. Sure, he's composing and arranging for private clients, as well as for his alma mater, David Starr Jordan Middle School. Sure, he auditions for every single opportunity, knowing most will be "No's," but that every shot is an invitation to BECOME. To spread light. To learn more. To swim in the music. To elevate. To exalt. To inspire. And to be inspired.

These are just a few of the ways that MUSIC has transformed Julian’s young life. Born in Burbank, CA, Julian is a third-generation performer on his high school auditorium’s stage. Fifty years ago, Julian’s grandparents met and fell in love in the Burroughs choir room. A generation later, Julian’s father and uncle helped show choir become a national sensation. Julian’s older brother enjoyed four thrilling, award-winning seasons with the Burroughs choir program.

But its very possible that we’ve saved the best for last.

From infancy, Julian heard — and FELT — music differently than the rest of us. Mesmerized by classical compositions from the earliest age, a self-taught pianist, blessed with Absolute Pitch, Julian has devoted himself body, mind, and spirit to giving and receiving all that an artist can from the bountiful universe of music.

It hasn’t always been easy.

Family health issues and brutal playground bullying were signatures of Julian’s grade school and middle school years. Some days — let’s be honest, some HOURS — were more than the young man felt his heart could bare. But in music… Yes, In MUSIC, Julian found his liberation and relief. And he has given only everything to it ever since, now an accomplished vocalist, dancer, composer, and arranger.

He may always be of humble origins, but there is on limit to the radiance and magic Julian will deliver to the world.

This summer, Julian has the extremely rare opportunity to participate in the prestigious A CAPPELLA ACADEMY in Los Angeles, California. It is a one-week intensive founded by latter-day a cappella pioneers Ben Bram, Rob Dietz, and Pentatonix’s Avi Kaplan. Handpicked from a tremendously competitive pool of aspirants, Julian has found his third try to be the lucky one. How badly has Julian wanted to participate in A Cappella Academy? In year’s past, there were no slots available for him. BUT… Undeterred. Undaunted. Ever-Committed. Julian tried, tried, and tried again, and this time, HE WAS INVITED TO ATTEND!!!

So here’s the thing:

If you happen to agree that the music doesn’t make much sense without music, then perhaps you’ve got a roll of nickels in the bottom of your bag or a ten-spot stashed in your glove box, maybe you’ve set aside a hundred-bucks to donate to a “good cause,” or maybe you’re one of the blessed who is able to shower abundance upon individuals whose light, whose efforts, whose talents, whose good heart in some way move or inspire you.

If any of these things are true, WON’T YOU CONSIDER SHARING WITH JULIAN’S A CAPPELLA ACADEMY “GO FUND ME” CAMPAIGN? He will — and there are few things more certain in heaven and earth — give to the world new music, beautiful music, music that rouses, heals, moves, inspires, uplifts, rearranges, exhilarates, and thrills. His gift is essential. And it is essential he be able to share it.

YOU can help make that happen….

Along the way, Julian has amassed some tremendous performing experiences:

Featured Ensemble, CineFashion Film Awards, October 2017

Featured Soloist at Disney-ABC’s International Upfronts, May 2017

Featured Ensemble, Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, “Silent Night,” December 2016

Julian has also lent his vocals, beatboxing, acting chops, and dancing abilities to a wide range of professional and amateur films, television programs, live events, theatrical happenings, and more.

At John Burroughs High School Vocal Music Association, Julian is a section leader, dance captain, composer, arranger, vocalist, vocal percussion extraordinaire, dancer, soloist, and member of three of the high school’s nationally-renowned performing groups, show choirs POWERHOUSE and MEN @ WORK, as well as elite a cappella unit, VOCAL ENSEMBLE.
