Thursday evening, December 8th, began the same as many evenings for Anthony--when most of the world was preparing for bed, Anthony was preparing for another night shift on the job.  Feeling a headache coming on, Anthony texted his wife Jenny, noting the need for some headache medicine ASAP; and then, as Anthony always does, he put aside his own needs and headed to work.  In the early hours of Friday, December 9th, Jenny received the call no one wants--Anthony had suffered a grade 5 brain aneurysm while driving a truck at work, and had been discovered in a ditch, fighting for his life. By the grace of God, Anthony made it to Vassar Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he immediately was placed on life support. Three surgical procedures later, the amazing doctors and nurses at Vassar were able to insert four coils in Anthony's brain to finally stop the hemorrhaging in his brain.  m
The following day, miraculously, Anthony showed signs of cognitive ability--raising a finger and toes on verbal command.  On Sunday, Anthony's older son Tyler came to the hospital, bringing with him a baseball. Knowing how much baseball meant to his father, Tyler handed the ball to his father, asking his dad to hold onto the ball as he built up his strength.  Anthony has not let go of that baseball yet.
Cognitive improvements began to slow, and Monday evening the doctors performed another surgical procedure to re-examine Anthony's brain.  A tube inserted in Anthony's brain continues to drain the blood from his brain.
The prayers and support of family and friends have left us speechless and eternally grateful.  Everyone has that "story" about Anthony--the eternal optimist whose generosity knows no bounds.  Whether it be coaching every boy who wants to learn to play baseball, playing in the pool with his boys, Tyler and Justin, dressing as Santa every Christmas, putting in extra hours at work, helping friends and family in their hours of need.......Anthony always is everyone's "go to" guy.  Now...........Anthony needs us to be his "go to".  The reality is that the road ahead is going to be slow, and a great deal of money is going to be needed to provide Anthony with the best care possible.  In addition, even under the best possible outcome, the possibility that Anthony will be able to work his two jobs ever again  is, unfortunately, slim to none..
We ask you for your prayers, your positive energy, and whatever you are willing to give.  Thank you in advance for your love and support.

With Love,
Anthony's Family
