Daniel Tomanelli's Medical Fund
The news article describes how Dan was injured by being struck by a vehicle and that he was admitted to the PICU at Erlanger Hospital. What it does not tell you is that He was not expected to survive. That he has fractured or broken bones from his skull to his legs. How his lungs were collapsed and he had have a tracheotomy to breathe. That his father and mother have been with him and asking for prayer day and night. Dan's jaw has been wired shut and he is not expected to be able to bear weight for 2 months. Though the prayers have helped him heal, they will have a long road of rehabilitation to recovery. Probably sooner than later the medical bills will begin to flood in, and I can only imagine how tough that will be to deal with after watching your son go through something like this. All proceeds from this will go directly to Dan's father to pay for the excellent treatment he has received.+ Read More

38th day in the hospital, Dan has had a lot to deal with. He had his jaw wired shut for a month and last week they took the wires off. He can now eat real food! However, because his skull was badly fractured, and the bridge of his upper teeth was damaged and he lost his 4 front top teeth, he finds it hard to eat stuff like Pizza. He can't bite and rip anything. He will need reconstruction of his bridge which is a process of about 2 years before any prosthetic teeth can be implanted. He will need dentures for now. He also got his trachea device out last Thursday and is breathing in his own without a 6" tube coming out of this throat. He is still confined to a wheel chair and bed due to his pelvis, arm and collar bone fracture which is still healing. He is scheduled to be home on Thursday, January 12. I spent time in Atlanta with him all weekend but had to come home for my other children to go to school. Thank you for all your support, love and prayers.
