Baby Ashlyn

I am the Proud Grandmother of Baby Ashlyn.  She was born May 16th , 2015 in Nanaimo BC.  A beautiful daughter for Tim and Jenn and a baby sister for Kasey and Ryla.  When she was 3 days old my children found out our beautiful Ashlyn has a hole in her heart.  The doctors were hopeful that it might repair itself and if not then surgery would be  necessary in September.  Ashlyn is now just over 2 months old.  Because of her condition she struggles to get enough oxygen and struggles to eat enough.  It has meant feeding every 1.5 hours around the clock to try and help her get stronger and gain weight for the surgery. Last week Ashlyn was in distress, her body turned blue from a lack of oxygen and she had to be admitted to hospital/ Ashlyn and mommy stayed the weekend in the hospital where Ashlyn had to have a tube inserted for her feeding because she could not do it on her own. Ashlyn is now set to have surgery at Vancouver Sick Childrens Hospital next week.  She cannot wait any longer.  My children who are hard working wonderful parents are struggling to cope with everything.  With a new baby, they are a single income family right now.   My son Tim, has been a juvenile diabetic since he was 9 years old so he is no stranger to medical problems.  Throughout this crisis Tim also had a crisis with his vision and had to be rushed to Victoria for surgery on his eyes.  The surgeon set his corrective surgery date and last week we found out that Baby Ashlyn's surgery was set for the same day.  Tim's sugeron has now moved his surger up so he can be with  Jenn and Ashlyn in Vancouver next week. 

We always think that such things won't happen to our family and we want to believe we are infallible but that is not true.

Baby Ashlyn will undergo 5 to 8 hours of pre-op and up to 8 hours of  open heart surgery and she will be in hospital for 5 to 14 days. 

There will be countless appointments afterwards and all the expense that goes with that...lost wages, fuel, food, child care...and still pay all their bills at home.

There are many expenses covered for Baby Ashlyn and many many expenses that are not.  Partial travel is covered and their stay is covered.  On one income it is difficult, never mind taking weeks off without pay for medical emergencies. 

My children are wonderful parents and I believe that every child should have  parents like my children. 

My wish is that my children can just focus on Baby Ashlyn and not worry about the expenses that are mounting or the bills at home.
So I am asking for this, please please pray for Baby Ashlyn, send her positive energy and think of her next week.  And if you can't or don't want to give, please please keep her in your thoughts!
