Joshie's Assistance Dog

Our beautiful son Joshie is currently on the wait list for a very special and highly trained, assistance dog. The assistance dog will help Joshie with the many issues he faces daily due to his severe autism. Joshie is 5 years old and can not talk or understand a lot. We can't explain danger to him and needs to be supervised at all times.
He's new best friend will assist Joshie with:
Helping Josh to walk in public as he often has anxiety about his surrounds. A harness will be attached to Josh with a lead attached to the dog. The dog will help Josh walk and also I keep him from running off into any danger eg: running across a busy road. This would mean so many "normal" activities would be possible to achieve eg: grocery shopping, family outings, school pick up/drop off etc.
The assistance dog is trained to comfort Josh when he has a meltdown . He will help calm him and take away he's anxieties.
The assistance dog will help Josh sleep at night. Joshie has trouble sleeping (even with medication) and often won't go to sleep until after 10:00pm and sometimes waking as early as 2:00am. Not a lot of sleep for Josh or us. The dog can sleep with him and help with the deep pressure he often seeks.
His new fur friend will offer him companionship and unconditional love. It's very hard for Joshie to make friends, especially ones that understand him.
These special dogs cost over $40,000.00 to raise and train. The families are required to contribute $25,000.00 to the cost of the dog via fundraising efforts.
