Time for a haircut

In the spring of 2015 my Dad was diagnosed with both pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer.  Over the next year he put in his time battling, through surgeries, chemo and radiation.   In October 2016 he completed all of his treatments and the Dr's gave him the green light.  For a year he was able to do all the things that he enjoyed, golfing hanging out with friends and was able to make a trip to Europe with my mom for the first time.  Life was almost back to normal, although with more time with naps and a lot less work.

Pancreatic cancer is considered one of the most aggressive cancers, often returning with in 1 - 5 years once a person has been cleared.  With like most things that a Dr tells you  they come true.  Having planned to visit us in the fall to see us out west for the first time in our new home he a last minute medical complication and had to cancel his trip.  They made a medical appointment for a complete CT and in late 2017 the Dr's discovered that his pancreatic cancer had returned.

He now has a chemo treatment every other Thursday that is a higher dosage then he had before.  This new cocktail is much stronger then before.  Now he is sensitive to cold for 3 days following each treatment and must used Dr prescribed steroids to recover each weekend.  Another side effect is of course hair loss.  Unfortunately for a guy who has always had a full head of hair, it is disappearing at an alarming rate, but he now jokes that he looks like his golfing buddies.

So between visits to the hospital for his treatments he will be making the trip west to met his granddaughter for this first time.  And although he wont wear a wig there are other people in his position that will.  Since its been about 7 years since I got a haircut I have a fair amount and when he is here we are going to the barber shop and time for cut, of course this will not be going to the garbage.  I have enough length to donate and would like to make it a bit of an event with my dad and do some fundraising to donate to a cause that my dad picks.  The date has been set for April 22.
