World Youth Day mission is to "share a common mission with youth ministers around the world: to evangelize, catechize, and change lives. They create opportunities for young people to open their hearts to the Grace of God on pilgrimages. "
I have always had a heart for mission work. Staring at a young age when I would stop to talk and pray with the homeless, to when I volunteered for ten years in animal rescue and adoption, to my young adulthood when I facilitated and led girl groups to teens in low income communities; I always found purpose in using my personal trauma and suffering to relate and help others. God has always blessed me by allowing me to find ways and work in a way to serve his people by sharing the gifts He gave to me. It feels odd to now have to ask for help but I know if this is truly from God then a way will be made!
I have been awarded a $1500 scholarship from the Diocese of Bridgeport in Connecticut to attend World Youth Day 2019. Every three years young people from around the world travel on a pilgrimage to hear the Word of God and come together as a church. This WYD will be from January 21st-January 28th 2019 and take place in Panama! Here is the website with more info.

I am so grateful to be invited with the Diocese of Bridgeport and Bishop Caggiano to this truly one in a lifetime experience. However, the $1500 does not cover the entire trip. I am short $1750 which needs to be paid in full by September 20th, 2018. As of now I am living in community with The Little Sisters of the Assumption as a volunteer serving homeless women and their children while by the grace of God my basic needs are being provided. If given the funds to be able to attend this pilgrimage, it would not only be a spiritual gift for me, but this opportunity would empower me to continue to be a living witness to others. I am so grateful that you are taking the time to read my cause and I would be more than happy to explain more about my hardships and desires. So please reach out! I also will share pictures and stories with anyone who can sponsor me.
