Mom's need for a lung transplant

Angels needed!

We need your help for a lung transplant for Judy Perley. Judy is wife of Raymond. Raymond is a Native American US Navy World War II Veteran. He and Judy have been married for 48 years.

Judy is mother to five children, with sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. While taking care of her family, Judy chose to further her education and graduated at a four year college, Magna Cum Laude.

Judy volunteered at her church for over 20 years as a religion teacher in her parish. She loved teaching her students as well as her children how to share, be kind, to love, be caring and honest. She joyfully taught and led by example how to exemplify the life of Jesus.

Judy also worked in her parish outreach program as a social worker helping the less fortunate and intervening in the lives of children and families. Judy is a strong, loving woman who has poured herself into her family and others all her life but now is in need of help.

Judy was diagnosed with Emphysema (COPD) eight years ago and was given oxygen 24/7. She has been on a Lung transplant waiting list for 2 years now in a hospital in  Boston Massachusetts. Recent tests show that she is down to only 19% use of her lungs now.

Her quality of life is diminishing rapidly. She still works hard at trying to help herself doing whatever exercises she can, weight lifting,  stretches and the bike.

It has been very frustrating and trying for all of us watching her health deteriorate while we wait. Measures need to be taken to better her chances of survival.  Through research we found that it might be possible to also get on a Lung Transplant List in Cleveland OH or UPMC  (Pittsburgh) effectively doubling her chances for a transplant while staying in the comfort of her own home in Massachusetts while she waits.

If the "call" came from Cleveland or Pittsburgh, Judy and her support person would have to be driven to Boston to catch a med flight to the out of state Transplant center for the operation.

The Lung Transplant surgery and care needed during recovery is most expensive. Although Judy's insurance will cover much of the cost, she is still responsible for what is not covered by insurance.

Her secondary insurance may not even cover out of state costs and her husbands pension can go only so far. As much as her husband wants so much to help his wife Raymond's finances are limited. As a family we have pooled together our finances and time but have reached the point where we need to ask for help.

Every hospital requires the person on the lung transplant wait list to have at least two support persons. Someone to bring them to their appointments, to the surgery, to be with them 24/7 after the surgery for one year in case of any issues. We are asking for help to cover the costs of post op medications, home healthcare, living expenses for Judy and her support person for the required year. If Judy goes out of state for the transplant we need to pay for the med flight to the transplant center as well. This cost alone to go to   Cleveland,  is between 8-10,000 dollars.

Any financial help, at any level that you can give, would be graciously accepted and deeply appreciated.

We know our mother very well and we know she will be keeping you in prayer and thanking God for your support.
