Car replacement

There was an accident and my van was burned to the ground. A total lose. It was my only source of transportation.

I just need a vehicle that can get me around town. Nothing fancy or gaudy. Just reliable. Any year make model will do and any type.
 
I've been checking prices everywhere in my area and it seems $2500 is the average price for something reliable. 

I have been without a vehicle for 6 months and it has been a living hell for me. 

I am 58yrs and disabled. my only source of income is my social security. I get just enough to keep me housed and fed with nothing left over to save for another vehicle. 
 
I need a vehicle to get to doctors appointments and just for doing everyday things I used to take for granted like Laundry and food shopping. 

I haven't had clean clothes in a very long time because I have to go to a laundromat which is too far to walk and I can't carry it that far. 
 
Most of the people where I live don't drive so it's hard to find rides to places I need to go.
