Gallop for Grendel

Tax deductible
Hi, I’m Maddie a rider and volunteer at Shady Hollow Assisted Riding.

Grendel has helped so many kids and adults at Shady Hollow Assisted Riding, including me. She has helped me get in better shape, increase my strength and she has improved my balance. These are just some of the ways she has helped me and over 60 other kids and adults feel better with their body and feelings.

I like to ride Grendel more than the other horses at SHAR because she has such a funny and sassy personality. Let me give you an example of her stubbornness.   When we took her to the stallion to get pregnant, she refused to go home!  She would not load on the trailer, Mom says it was because she didn’t want to leave her new boyfriend!  We tried everything; grain, hay, carrots, and apples, you name it! When we finally got her in the trailer it was a half an hour later! But a great personality in a horse is an awesome quality.  I can just imagine a miniature version of her.   Want you help to keep the new colt strong and healthy?

Since Grendel got pregnant in August 2016 it has been a bumpy and rocky road at SHAR (Shady Hollow Assisted Riding). But by making a donation through GoFundMe, you can help the new foal and mother. Your money will help pay for medicine, food, veterinary care, training and anything else the new mother and foal might need.

One thing I like to do with Grendel is go on trail rides.  It relaxes me and I think it relaxes her too when we can go out of the arena and walk through our trails.  I also have a big passion for trotting and jumping. It makes me feel free with no limitations. Grendel's can’t jump right now and soon she won’t be able to trot either with her big belly. But that means more trail rides! I just started to canter. I haven’t been able to canter her yet but once she has her foal I’ll give it a try.

If you make a donation to SHAR you can help us get training items that will help the colt become like his/her inspiring and loved mother. Yup, Grendel can definitely do it all! Soon she can check being a mother off her list too.

So please help Shady Hollow Assisted Riding, the new foal, and Grendel by making a donation!

Shady Hollow Assisted Riding is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1998. We provide a supportive equine environment where individuals with physical, cognitive and/or emotional challenges can experience therapeutic, social and educational rewards.  Shady Hollow is a year round working farm currently caring for over 20 horses, 90 acres of farm land and over 3 miles of trails. As a non-profit we rely greatly on donations and support from our community.

Our Assisted Riding Program is designed for our clients with special needs who otherwise cannot independently ride. Through Assisted Riding Lessons, individuals with special needs can improve their self-confidence, increase muscle strength, enhance balance, learn teamwork, and develop social skills. The horse is an equalizer in an otherwise unequal world.  Grendel is a perfect horse for our program.  Her size, personality and gait are ideal.

So please help Shady Hollow Assisted Riding, the new foal, and Grendel by making a donation!   Feel free to visit our website at http://hugahorse.com/ to learn more.
